co19 will become famous soon enough
No you may not carry a 9mm pistol working as a close protection officer in London, or anywhere in the UK. If you are stopped(PROBABLY RATHER HARSHLY AND AT GUNPOINT) in possession of a handgun you will be arrested charged and convicted and sentenced from anything from 18 months to 5 years imprisonment.

If you carry a knife (blade over 3 inches and isn't folding)/baton/kubaton/knuckledusters for example, these are offensive weapons for which you can be arrested.

the only person you can sign off on a section 5 permit for prohibited firearms is the Home Secretary and there is no chance of getting a section 5 license for a prohibited firearm for protection - although i have heard rumours but you have to be seriously connected

Lets face it the threat certainly does not dictate the carriage of firearms in london at present. Could you imagine the admin abortion if you could with licenses etc!
Arm yourself with your mobile and a pound or two for the beggars!

plus you also have to have security checks where the firearms are going to be stored when not in use who is responsible for them
this is the application form to the Secretary of State for possession of prohibited firearms

Definitely not! You can't even carry an ASP/ baton or anything else that's classed as an offensive weapon legally. If you have worries about dealing with the physical threat of the job, think about doing a course for conflict management and unarmed defensive tactics. However working abroad is a different matter. For recognised training courses go the the InternationalBodyguardAssociation.com website where both BTEC and Diploma courses available for Defence and Restraint Techniques (DART) and Tactical Firearms training.

I can guarentee that conections or not you will not have authority to carry a firearm in the UK. You have to be a crown agency and then you have to have standing authority which even some co19 do not have until an operation is authorised.

I would take the advice of co19, the other option being that you ignore all these threads and get banged up for a 5 stretch with an overly friendly cell mate ;-) !
