I wouldn't hesitate to use my teeth, to echo Hippy's comment, I don't believe in fighting fair and will use anything I have, whether it's part of my anatomy or wheel brace (Tyre iron to the septics out there ;-)) rock or anything conveniantly lying around.
Fighting fair is for sports. Heno |

As far as using anything lying around, in the world we live in, if it's not justified and provable reasonable force, you can find yourself sitting in the dock on a serious assault or even manslaughter charge. Life and death is life and death and we must understand the differences. In a life and death confrontation, everything is game. Regarding possible scenario's as a CPO, one should end the conflict as soon as possible and move on. Whilst the CPO is playing samurai Jack, his/her principal is vulnerable. The last thing we want to do is get into a fight. Aggression, cool head, focus and commitment are more important than training to achieve this. Without those factors, training i worthless. M |

Basically it comes down to do what you have to to do keep your principal and your team safe, it also depends on the exact situation you find yourself in I mean your guarding the CEO of a big multi national petroleum company and some Green Peace dudes want to throw flour or eggs at him, you will hardly use your teeth, or head butt these people, a bit over the top I think, and this is were proper training and experience come into the equation. Properly trained and experienced CPO's will recognise the threat level and react accordingly. Cant emphasise the training and experience enough.

Good exchange guys! I have seen this thread peppered with good advice on techniques, styles and tactics. True enough, we each bring our own experience and training into these discussions.
With the number of authorities I see here, would it be a good idea to maybe start up a new thread, or forum where instructors can share ideas and training methods? THis way it can remain informative and not digress to an ego or style based promotion. Ideas on this anyone? Jerry |

Who knows how to start a new forum (not just a thread)?
