Thanks Rosie for the reasonable explanation, but part of there job is to be armed so they can protect the principle (maybe i'm wrong), if you were the driver and forgot the keys well (same again).

Yes i do agree with your points that we are human and do FCUK form time to time, but you still need to realise the serious point that a loaded weapon was left behind in a public place be a highly trained officer (regardless of sex). It shouyld not happen end of story.

So offcourse people will get on the band wagon to rag the individual, once again we are only human.

agreed on all counts... should never have happened, I have seen it done before and a similar thing will probably befall some poor bugger again...

I did not intend to downplay the seriousness of it, just thought I would voice a rational view before the public crucifiction and expected gender based onslaught.

On a similar vain, I was told a story (by a police officer) not so long ago about two offduty PSNI officers who went into a busy night spot in Belfast. The bar maid who knew one of them said "sorry, but I know you are a police officer and armed so I can't serve you alcohol", no problem they replied and handed two Glocks over to the bar maid for safe keeping! She promptly called the local station and told them she had two loaded pistols, they came, they saw, they took two people away !
