Wheras i felt i did get good training if i'm honest, and i was lucky as i really didn't do the research that i am pleased to see so many doing now. A good training company should never be afraid and in my personal opinion actively encourage those making enquiries to look at other providers as a comparisson.
I agree with earlier comments though that whilst i felt fairly confident in my abilities, i knew i had a lot to learn, put that together with the length of time it took for my licence to arrive.....6 months, and a lot of time had passed by before i did my first job, and i am not ashamed to admit there were somethings i knew that i had forgotten. Possibly longer courses help to give you a little more practice in the skills that you really do use a lot. Even in the years since i did my training there is a huge change in what people are offering out there, which is healthy for the market. So training does seem very much to be evolving as it goes along and i dare say were many of us to do our courses again we would see considerable changes. With many trainers now being so aware of changes and re-training themselves it gives students the obvious benefits of things being up to date, and also if we know what you are teaching is as up to date as it can be, then it makes the student more confident from the word go. If you can't fill a 4 week course with good subject matter and keep the students interest you may aswell just do 2 weeks. If however you can really make those 4 weeks worthwhile then people will pay the money. I paid over £3,500.00 for my course, now i see courses at half that and it staggers me, hacks me off a tad too

3,500 is alot of money but if it was worth it, that is what matters. I have spent thousand's of pounds and dollars on courses over the years and all I can say it was a great investment so far for me.Other courses are still being planned and I would like to try and use some of the providers mention on this forum, so I hope some of them will be going to London in nov. Thanks to all for your input on this thread.
