It's very easy to get another passport. Write a short covering letter explaining the circumstances and you'll be granted it. I've experienced a few problems (lengthy interviews) heading through the states with stamps from the pit. A clean passport is always easier for certain countries.

Regarding Cuba, they give you a tourist Visa card and it stays with you during your stay and you have to handle it back to the Cuban immigration on departure.. no stamps on your passport. You see.. the purpose of my post was to get people's experience and suggestions, and you read lots of different ones. So, let me ask you this to make it clear; Are you allowed to have 2 valid British Passports..?! |

Yes. But as above, you may have to justify your application for a second one, in a covering letter, outlining the circumstances, i.e. you are in the security industry / are a businessman and travel to numerous countries...................

It helps if you get a letter from your employer some companies will do this for you (ie AG and others won't. If you try and blag your case ie self employed etc make sure you have the evidence to show that you need it as it can often depend on the person on the counter at the passsport office as to if they will say yea/nae...

I would think they would honer this, but it would be questioned highly, why you need a second one. There is too much fraud out there for this. I know in the U.S. They put a microchip in it now!!

Belfort,
Believe me, it IS possible for you to get a second passport. You just have to have a valid reason (you do dont you? ). Follow this:On the application form, state your reason for needing a second passport as "Visiting incompatible countries" as apparently it is about the only excuse they will accept from you/me/us gits. You will need to show proof of travel - this can be in the form of a booking ticket (air/train/ferry) with an itinerary of travel dates. So to get your second passport send off the following 1) Proof of travel (booking ticket or something) 2) A standard "new passport" application form filled out as if it were your first passport (include your current passport number in the "other passports held" section of the form (no supporting documents necessary - but double check first) 3) A letter stating your itinerary down to the dates of travel through each individual country (obviously including the "incompatible countries" in this list!) - or to the only country if this is the case. This letter does not have to come from a company - if it is a private trip or self-employed business trip 4) Postal order (not applicable if you're using the post-office passport checking service which allows you to pay then and there by debit card) Then you should get your second fully legal passport with no issues at all! ![]() See, told you it was possible. Over to you.. oh yeah - good luck! ASE

PS - It doesnt matter if for a short trip. Also, K.I.S.S.
PPS - You can always apply from the Brit Embassy overseas - same process, except a little shorter! PPPS - You could always apply for a second passport of another country, but will cost more. ASE |
