Is it legal to ask the Home Office for an extra British Passport..?!

Is that due the nature of our jobs (CP's) maybe it would be better just in case you enter in countries where a stamp from it is not welcome in others. I've been told it is fine you asking for another one, but you'll have a lot of explaining to do. I just would like a feedback from you guys.

Thanks.

Yes, for the answer you have given yourself, also, if people do a lot of world wide travel, you may have to travel while your passport is with an embassy getting a visa on it.

We in N. Ireland can have two, one ROI and one UK, always handy

The simplest way round this one is to report the original passport stolen and apply for a new, 'clean' passport.

I also have a UK passport and a ROI passport........having an ROI passport is very handy as it's generally accepted in more countries than Amex.

Incidentally, my UK documentation is up for renewal and the question is will gowing a full beard for the passport photo's screw up the biometric system????
I've been told that the best way to wipe the chip is to put the new bio metric passport in the microwave for a few minutes!!!

If you report your passport "stolen", don't they cancel this passport? So, how can it use it..?

Report the passport with the 'undesireable' stamps stolen. UKPA then cancel the stolen one, you then apply for a new 'clean' passport and use that one.

In case of urgent requirement a temporary passport is available from local embassy/consulate at the current cost of €87.

Come on it aint rocket science!!!!!!

You dont need to report it stolen even !! Just immerse in water, say it went through the wash and you can get a replacement,You can do this in twenty four hours on the same day service if need be.Et Viola clean passport !!

That said I have travelled to the US 3 times with an Afghan and Pakistan visa and stamps and not had a second look at immigration !! The only country to get a little excited by that in my experiance was Israel,a two hour wait at immigration and my life story, quite tedouis at 5 am !! If you ask them NOT to stamp your passport they oblige. Therefore no trace of your trip there !! They know the score with Middle East bullshit !!

I agree with sw1paul

I have travel all over the world and in and out of the USA and have never had a problem with my middle ease stamps inc BAGHDAD pre war and since 2003, Afgan and Pakistan, i have a nearly full passport and its one of the extra page ones the only place you have a night mare with is greece to turkey and Israel to USA oh and dont go to Cuba if planning a USA trip within 6 months you wont get into USA full stop.
I have only ever had 1 passport at a time its only ever clean on renewal.
If your jobs are legite the stamps arnt a problem if the jobs dodgy dont get the passport stamped or failing that dont go.

If youre working in HE CP get your employer to write you a letter explaining your position and why a second passport is of use to you.Fill in a form in enclose some money about $200 here in Afghanistan and the British Embassy will arrange the issue of a secondary passport no problems at all .With regards to say travel to Cuba ,they don`t stamp your passport at all,you get a tourist visa stuck on your ticket, this is done as they are aware of the problems the good old USA cause .
