Another point for discussion and your views

If someone holding a CP licence has the relevant number of hours doing RST work only, in a residence that the Principle only visits 2 weeks a year can he / should he be able to teach on a CP course?
(he can be read as she)

Looking forward to the debate.

Did he teach or just run the company?
If he didn't teach and allowed the Instructors, who were hopefully current, experienced and in date to run the course, I see no problem in that in principle.
Was the weeks work close to the expiry of of his licence so he could prove he's current and get it renewed?

The RST guy was on our course he shouldn't have got passed the prior experience check and be made to do the full course in my opinion.

Name and shame Nick - get potential candidates to look at only those companies who are actually screwing the nut and delivering valid courses with appropriate instructors....I dare you!

What do you mean by the relevent number of hours? The arguement is always going to be that no matter whether the principle is in residence or not the RST drills should still be carried out 24/7 to ensure the integrity of the building and grounds. I assume house staff and maintenance workers will still visit ensuring Res Ops keeps on his/her toes.
By the way I agree that an empty residence is no substitute, I'm just adding another angle.

However having the correct or more number of hours in one area ie RST will allow him or her to teach the whole of a CP course as I understand it which isn't right in my opinion

I whole heartedly agree, but until the governing body AKA SIA start to govern, cowboys like this will continue to teach what they like. I know of one company (who are advertising on this site) and the chief instructor claims to have been doing my job in NI when I was doing it!! Whats more he wasn't even our capbadge or Longmoor trained!!! Walt tastic. I've a good mind to ask him for a job and when he asks for my CV I'll tell him he's already using it.
