so from your statement it is safe to assume you are a member of the gardai, this is typical of the poorly educated opinions of most garda, they are told from child hood about the big bad people in dublin, dublin is just like any other city in europe in fact it is a lot safer than most, so do us a favour pal and come down off your high horse, your human just like the rest of. if dublin was even half as bad as other euro citys then all you boys would be armed and your generally not i think that says alot about dublin and the level of threat.

I'm actually not Garda, I just work with them a lot. and what i specialise in is dealing with the worst kind of scum Dublin has to offer! All I was doing was offering some advice, that if your going to work in dublin, be aware of who's who, I did know a bouncer that turned a guy away and was later shot that night for refusing entry.

As for me being on "my high horse" theres plenty of raids and armed responses to happenings in dublin city that people are not aware off because "its not big news".

At the minute the only garda this year that are allowed work overtime are armed gardai.

I'm also aware that i'm human like everyone else, sorry if I missed the post where I stated I was superman.......
Again, all I was trying to say was be careful.... dublin is packed with surprises for the unexpecting.

May we ask, in what capacity would you be chasing and arresting a suspect if you are not in fact a Garda? Are you a reserve perhaps?

If not, could you clarify the position you hold (by PM if you wish to respect PERSEC) in which you work closely with Gardai, chase/arrest suspects etc?

And is not often that doormen are shot at in Dublin, there was one late last year that I'm aware of, it was at the Red Cow, is this the incident that you speak of?

...and they decided that they would look at all the mistakes the sia made, then make them all over again and even add a few of their own.

I met with some representatives of the PSA when it was coming into force, I asked about licencing within the CP sector and was met with this classic answer: "..ehhh, sorry, but what's Close Protection?" I kid you not.

Needles to say, the meeting ended shortly after.

In fairness to the individual though, it was put together by civil servants and staffed with civil servants, none of whom had done any CP, DS, Surv, Investigations (Private Sector) type work so it was completely alien to them.

sorry, i'm not at liberty to say lads, I can just say to you that i'm not a garda member or reservist. I just work with them.
The Red cow shootings wasnt the one I was talking about, but same incident, the one I am discussing happend on a northside nightclub about nearly 3 years ago.

Sorry, but I'm not buying that. If you're not a Garda or a reservist then you would not be chasing and arresting suspects in Ireland. If you were, it would be in the role of a vigilante.

You can however make a citizens arrest, if the offence committed carries a sentence of 5 years or more, now having said that, I doubt very much that the Garda would allow someone who was not a Garda, chase and apprehend and armed suspect, nor would they allow you to take part in said persuit.

You say you work closely with them, but are not at liberty to discuss in what capacity, now that suggests some sort of secret unit or Army.

Now if you were in a "secret unit" you would not be making comments about chasing subject's, or finding out who the main gang players are in Dublin and if you are Army, then I would expect that to have made front page news here in Dublin as the Garda get enough flak as it is, if they had the Army making arrests or cahsing armed subjects then I'm sure it would have been reported here.

I've worked in security in Ireland a long time, in various fields, I've done may years on doors in Dublin and surrounding areas and still occasionally cover the odd shift here and there, I have a lot of contacts in the Garda/Military and have never heard of civvies taking part in persuits of armed subjects especially after they have shot/stabbed, or attempted to shoot or stab a DS.

I await to be corrected.

P.S. as a matter of interest, what shooting was it 3 years ago that you were involved in the apprehension of a suspect?
