Context The Occupational Risk, High Risk Team provides advice to BBC programme makers deploying to hostile or dangerous environments, undertaking high risk programme making activities such as covert investigations, and covering high risk events such as natural disasters.

The person holding this post leads on provision of routine high risk information and advice across the BBC and deputises for the Head of Occupational Risk (Journalism and High Risk) who has overall responsibility for high risk policy advice, crisis management and general occupational risk in Journalism. Job Purpose To enable the BBC to assess the risks inherent in its high risk activities and manage those through a process of risk assessment, mitigation and contingency planning.

To provide specialist advice and support to management and staff in the application of the BBCs high risk guidelines. To provide a second source of higher level policy advice and crisis management support. Key Responsibilities: To gather and collate detailed information on the international security and safety situation in order to provide relevant advice to managers and staff regarding their systems of work, objectives and plans for the management of health, safety and security risk. Contribute to the management and development of the High Risk Team and to the continual improvement of the BBCs safety and security policies and processes.

Work with senior management to assess continually the risk to staff overseas and develop with them training, equipment and physical security policies to minimise risk. Advise programme makers across the BBC undertaking covert or difficult investigations, programmes in demanding climate of geography or involving other high risk factors. Support the Head
