I was speaking to a guy the other day who said i should join the National Association of Security Professionals (National Association of Security Professionals - Home - A recognised Association within the Security Industry)
I've looked on there and it costs £120 for 12 months membership, is it worth or not? Does anyone use this service.

co19 will become famous soon enough
JR is going to kill me again, NASP has good intentions and a number of people get something out of it. They occassionally have job adverts on there but nothing major, the major ones I have seen on this website or GSI. You do get some kind of insurance also as a member aswell as other deductions on cars etc . It is very similar to this site, but in my opinion this site is better.

I personally did not find anything beneficial from the site and thought £120 per year was a bit much. That being said JR, Boris and Mark who are the moderators are good blokes and are trying to assist people in the industry. If you have £120 lying around I suppose their are worse things to spend it on and it will give you a further insight into the industry.

I won't argue with CO19, as there are not many people in the UK who have his experience, contacts and knowledge and can command bigger and better things work wise.

What I will say is, for the most part, nasp is a very good tool for people new to the industry and looking to get on. There are several people who own their own companies and recruit only from nasp, especially in the summer for events. One event will more than pay the cost of the membership.

Paying the money ensures that you get only like minded people who have a genuine interest in their chosen trade.

I reckon nasp is worth the £120 it costs to be a member but then that is my opinion and it is something that someone will have to decide themselves. I have had work out of the site and no for a fact that i only got this because i was a member. I cant remember exactly but Olive and CRG do use it to get guys.
I am not keen or interested on such things as cheap car hire but am very happy that as a member I get £10000 worth of insurance free for any security work i do in this country.
nasp recently had a meeting at the union jack club in london and i felt it was very informative. There were about 50 or more people there and found the networking and exchanging views and numbers in the bar afterwards brilliant.
As for the £120 i earned that amount and a bit more in just 1 day from a job that i got off of the site
Good to see that there are peple who do take the time to look before they jump

I have been a member of NASP for 2 years and generally i think its pretty good - i recently had reason to post and received some EXCELLENT advice, both on the forum and through private messages. In this instance, for me, it made my £120 for the year WELL worth it.

This advice could well have been gained through CP World of course for free but i do think that there are certain advantages to having a paid membership.

Reference the jobs etc i know that NASP is working hard to improve this area and they have just launched NASP track which is an excellent benefit for members.

I must admit though, if the fee went beyond £120 i'd have to think twice.

Personal choice i suppose.

Hiya Mate

Im in the army at the moment, im out in Aug and i went to the last NASP meeting in london at the end of Jan.
These guys offer a lot of help for people who are wanting to get their foot in the door in the security industry. JR, BORRIS, MARK and and the rest of the directors that run NASP are a good bunch of lads with a lot of experiance between them all.

I think its a good offer, but its upto you.

Craig

JR
I'd like to add that NASP for me (eventhough I'm not a frequent 'poster') has given me some good contacts and help on contracts I've been working on...

Slightely off the subject:
No offence to open forums like this one, as I think there's a need for it, and benfecial as most of us will agree.
The more closed environment of NASP definately has a place not to be disregarded.
A very simple example: you DO NOT POST personal details ever(simple: do you know everyone, and more important: do you trust everyone with ths kind of details), e.g. phone numbers, adresses etc. on public forums, if people want them, they'll ask you...

Horses for courses?
