got this today from ICA............. most here im sure are seasoned veterans when it comes to the right approach when job hunting but thought i would paste it here anyway......... it may help someone!!

When you see the your first instinct is to
immediately send of your Resume and show your
willingness to be deployed.
Before you do that, please read the following, as
it may just help someone to get that top dollar
job they are chasing.

FIRSTLY
Read the Resume Do's and Don’ts. I
will try and explain why this is so important:
1. Recruiters and companies receive HUNDREDS of
replies for any ONE vacancy.
2. They do not have the time to open every email
to read where you may fit in. Your cover letter
has to be part of your email, and it has to
show in 5 seconds why YOU are qualified and NOT
100 other guys.
3. They have been around the block once or twice,
so they know that almost 50% of all security
related resumes are “
4. Think of getting your resume certified. It
saves them the time and effort and shows your are
totally willing to have your integrity checked at
own cost.
5. When you state that you have been "deployed",
please note this means DEPLOYED in a foreign
country in a CONFLICT ZONE. And no, Johannesburg
City Centre does not qualify as a "conflict zone".
6. Having done 10 years Close Protection in any
country for a Minister or Member of Parliament
does not necessarily make you an expert in warzone
situations. Close Protection in a warzone is a
different ballgame - ask any Psd contractor in
Iraq or Afghanistan. The rules are different and
contractors die. It's a fact of life. Think about
it before claiming extreme knowledge. If need be,
get training from one of many Certified Training
Companies for PSD and/or Close Protection (Ronin
SA is well established and well known in the
industry…and no, we do not receive any
kick-backs from them).
7. ICA is NOT a quick fix, nor do we claim to be
one. We do not guarantee anyone any jobs. You need
to be the best qualified candidate for that job if
you want it.
8. Put in some time and effort into EACH
application. Anything less, and expect not to get
an answer.

Good luck and stay safe out there...

Sorry about the promo for Ronin!! just proof that i didnt edit this .......lol

lrmart1n is on a distinguished road
HI,
Having your CV 'certified' is a very good idea and could help me a lot - but how do you do that? And how can they be sure that the certification is genuine?

Regards,

Lee

Roadhog will become famous soon enough
CM asked the question on a different post I've posted what I would suggest are the basics an employer should do. One other CP/PSD site I have seen they ask you to send a CV for certification by a moderator- ukpsd.com Networking the High Risk Security Contractor Community! if anyone here is such a certified member someone could ask the question there of the moderator wolf93.

Guys, there is also the membership at IRPB ( thrue The BBA)
To be registered there you have to send in all certificates, several references, prrof of diplomas etc..it takes some time and they then check your Cv and references and if everything is ok youre approved by them and registered with IRPB people can call them and and have you checked out.. They only approve people with working experience and all papers ready..Its good to know they have all my papers and by a phone call tell the person calling that Iam a trained and experienced operator that they have checked

just a thought International Register of Professional Bodyguards
