Hi all,

I'm currently in the Royal Marines, i'm 22 and done 5 years, i want to leave in 3 years time to do CP, i want to know weather there is a CP course more suitable for ex forces? And also, by the time i'll be looking for a CP job i'll be 25 with 8 years Royal Marines experience behind me including 1 tour in Iraq and 1 in Afganistan, would that be enough experince to find a CP job easily?

If anyone could help me that'll be great,

Thanks Matt

Hi Fella,

I'm an ex bootneck and i can say that my Cv speaks for it self and i have got contract from the 1 being an ex marine and 2 from the experiance that the corp gives you.

Now i have'nt done any sia course which from time to timebites me in the arse, so what i can say is look at the courses closely , pick the right one be it CP or Psd use the money from reseltment. like i say some companies who have the contracts in the pit and afgan go by your experiance and not because you have a sia.
I have found that American companies can be easier to get in than UK.

If you want more info give me an email address and i'll help if i can.

Si.

Matt
Your still a young lad ....just be aware when you get outside theres gonna be a lot of very combat experienced guys applying for the same jobs so whilst in the Corps you need to get yourself as many skills that will help you stay one jump ahead of the opposition and make you more marketable.
A CPO or Psd member needs many strings to his bow SV,Medic and Sigs will all add to your CV as well as been a grav on the ground.

Theres always Selection to have a crack at!!

As for courses theres stacks of booties leaving to do the same ask them for feedback after the course..do your research wisely

ive got mates working for a number ofdifferent companies all with positives and negatives.

Regal Security Training Ltd will become famous soon enough
Mat
Your first port of call will be the Career Transition partnership, (CTP) also you will see knocking around camp, Questonline! a forces resettlement book and also they are on the web, all about your transition from the military and sound career advice. Dont forget to register for your Enhanced Learning Credits (ELCAS) too as you can use them if a company is ELCAS registered and will pay 80% of the course fee!!!!!
In quest online there is a segment that covers CP and training Providors. Over the past 5 years more and more there has been a massive influx of lads who are now heading to the CPO career as an avenue of future caeers, so that in mind the advice they will give is now top draw. I would advise you as you, quite prudently pointed out start your homework now,
as it is important that who you choose as a training Provider! that they give you what you want.

I also advise you not only to apply, but ring them and ask them personaly about the course and any quieries you may have? because at the end of the day they will tell you as they want you on there course and should be no trouble at all to inform you.

Also there are employment fares laid on by the CTP at garrisons within the UK ie: Aldershot, HMS Sulton, And Catterick Garrison so ensure you visit them, and go to the ones the other end of the country and claim back through the pay office.

the companies i know that are reputable are:
Nemesis
Longmoor group
Anubis
CRG
NIBSSS
and my own Company, Regal Training Security
