Hello everyone,

I am looking to get my 1st CPO position and would really appreciate any help to get me started game.

I am waiting for SIA licence and also specialise in medical lifesaver skills. I am ex-Navy, weapons trained.

Hi Ruby,

What I found was most companies werent interested until I had my license although some may on the grounds of ur license number. There are a number of security company lists on the forum as well as the security directory. Also look at security oracle. What I would say though is perserverance is the key and keep plugging away.

Jobs in this industry are hard to come by. As an employer, seeing your post I immediatley thought "wants to work from home". If you want to get established, hoping CP will fit in with your other life is a non starter. It is very like being an actor - you need a lucky break and need to get known. that means Belfast to Bognor, long hours, possibly long periods away from home. Taking the shi**y jobs just to get experience and your face known.

This depends on you, is it a career or something to do in between other stuff - as there are plenty of excellent CP's who will work anywhere at the drop of a hat who are struggling.

This isn't a personal comment, just a reality check
