Hi Alex. Just read your post. I'm struggling to get to Iraq and you're leaving it...! There are loads of CP Teams in the commercial end, though large ones are hard to come by unless you have a very wealthy client. It's like everything else mate - there's a lot of luck involved and 'who you know' counts for a large part. I'm currently working in Cape Town, and getting on the Circuit is difficult, though it is working - and then of course my visa will expire...lol

You might have to keep the sandy places on a hush hush for certain clients! Make up 2-3 variations of the auld CV...

all the best, andy.

i've hit them all Alex with the CV....bit slow although some responses starting to come through at last - seems that all the companies are well stocked..! loads of mates out there but the recruitment process seems to have overtaken the 'good word'..!

Trouble with the large corporate teams is as Andy says, because their corporate employees they get hired by the good old HR department and not the CP Team leader or Security Manager. It becomes more of a tick the boxes excercise than anything, and to be quite honest Psd experience does not help much at all- the common view in the corporate environment is that PSD guys are going to be completely out of place in the corporate world- with some guys they are right mind you.

To be considered for corporate roles you need far more than your basic sia course, I would suggest looking at some of the US courses ESI etc. And experience in CP other than PSD work.

However, the UK is not the only corporate environment- have you looked at Europe or the US?

Guys

thanks for the input at this time im just looking for information about the teams where they are ie london etc what they are looking for from their people.I would ideally like to join a uk team or a uk based team but would be interested in europe too.I have my sia CP with ronin south africa but am looking in the future at some form of security management course either of my own back or if available through training in house with a good company. So any info on the above would be great in any shape or form.

Cheers

Alex.

Most of the large corporations have some form of CP team for their VIPs- sometimes it is just a driver/CPO, sometimes more, but most often in London the teams tend to be small, even for US based corporations. The best avenue is to look on the companies listing for the London Stock Exchange, check websites, gather numbers and starting phoning asking for Security Managers etc. Aside from that another option in London is check out some of the function orientated hotels- Grovesnor House on Hyde Park is a good one, if you can get a job there in security on a temporary basis, this allows networking with coporate CP teams that go there for events.
