Hi guys.

The problem i have at the moment is that i`ve passed my hostile environment course at Ronin , and i am now waiting for my sia licence, but i thought that it wouldn`t be a problem getting work in iraq and afghan but all the CV`s i have sent off have all said that there are no slots avaible. So i just need advice about to make myself more employable. even thought about taking pay cut just to get out there. i just need the first step on the ladder and then i`ll be happy . many thanks ..............

Problem finding work? You'll have a problem finding your missing fingers if I catch you offering to work for less money than everyone else.

Then your legs...a suggestion would be - grow up. What makes you a CP operative? You have done a course? WOW. Start at the bottom and do the crap stuff, like everyone else - do your
apprenticeship first..should take you about 10 years!
Regards

Taking a pay cut just lowers the level of pay for all other CP folk and its a no go really

Take a look at the uk HGV drivers market the money is now crap due to people working for less and taking all the bad shifts just to get a job and most of them non uk folk

mind folks i think your replys were a little harsh.....

Jeeso guys, give the new guy a break........

Like a lot of people entering the industry, they "think" this forum is the centre of the circle.......

It also shows that whomever trained them, didn't take much time to teach them about networking, or gaining the first contract or job.

Your harsh comments, I believe, are uncalled for, Police/Mil backgrounds don't "qualify" people to work, their professional outlook, common sense, training and wisdom are more important, I've met a few ex mil and ex bill guys, who are complete arseholes, full of crap and inflated ego's, just like in every other industry.

I've also worked with civvies, who were outstanding operators!

So how about helping, or encouraging the "less educated" with the ways of the professional PPO/CPO instead of jumping down their throats, the post was like all the other "just qualified/licensed" ones on here.... "where's the work?"

As a pointer to the post starter, develop your skills set, your CV with additional low/no cost education, from the net, look up and cross reference what's going on in the world where you want to work, knowing what's happening "on the ground" can show potential employers you're keen, knowledgeable and understand the job you are applying for.

Don't forget the introduction letter, personally addressed to the person who is in charge of recruiting, get their name by calling the company first!

Give them enough information in yor intro to make them look at your CV, after that, make sure you call them a few days later and ask them if they have read your CV and get a "feel" if they would be interested in interviewing you, don't be afraid to ask!

Too many people rely on the net and emails to thrown enough bulk mail at large groupsof contacts without thinking the obvious....... if I was receiving another BULK email with attachment, would I open it????

This is a PEOPLE industry...... you have to be a PEOPLE person, which means it has to be PERSONAL at all times!

Basics and old school yes............... but it works, if it aint broken, don't fix it!

If i might say so Lock..... going around inquiring about training courses and then not having the decency to reply to mails sent to you from those who you have asked specific things of does not show you in a good light.

Good luck with finding work, i echo the comments of Psd above but i would say that you never burn bridges in this industry, as we all know.....what goes around comes around.

Do as the guys suggest, be prepared to graft hard, in less than ideal conditions, at unsocialable times of day and night.......put the graft in and earn respect, these are your learning days now, the course you passed basically put you on the bottom of the ladder. Its up to you to start climbing it now.....rung by rung.
