Hello everyone
I'm new to this world and would welcome any proffesional advice from all members. I left the British Army 4 years ago after 12 years service and I am very interested in joining the CP world. I've contacted several companies with reference to the HECPO course and am attending an open day in the near future of one of these with view to booking a placement and quizing the instructors on obvious questions. My concerns being after viewing recent threads, that they are very willing to take the money for the courses but not very helpful with help there after. Any recommended companies/courses out there. Secondly, if (when) succesful on the course. What would be my main route in gaining employment at the bottom rung of the ladder in the Middle East apart from the obvious CV 'selling'. Are there opportunities to work out there and what is normally the waiting time for someone like myself to gain employment. I have had operational experience but not in the Middle East. This being the place I would like to cut my teeth. I am definitely keen and very willing to learn the ropes, good fitness levels and defo a team player. Any advice would be gratefully appreciated chaps. JC |

Hello
In question to which CP course to do if your just wanting to gain the sia licence then research the reputable companies but to do not be fooled that this guarantees a job at the end. Email me and I give you details on the course I did, from studying this forum be careful how you word and phrase sentences to avoid confrontation, employers have different views on what they want to see on CV’s. Read up on CP/body guard role etc you can get these books from the library, keep your fitness up, stay open minded and have a sense of humour. just keep at it and do not be put off by the you must be SF/SBS /SAS/ and served in Iraq/Afghan, personally I think this is a way of weeding out CV’s .If they ask for a photo then the company is going to judge you on what you look like, I thoroughly enjoyed my course and no way felt out of my depth and hopefully will gain employment in the near future. Regards Andy |

Valid concerns and your approach is well considered. I don't want to 'over sell' our HECPO course but final days are attended by a representative of a well known British PMC. We will assist you in every way we can, have good contacts but if its the 'guaranteed job post course' you want and believe in, thats not us!! Call us for a chat...no obligation, as others here will testify. 00381 21 526672 Best Regards Morrigan |

Hi Paul
We have a very good relationship with the head of HR for one of the top 3 British PMC’s who are active in Iraq and Afghanistan as well as other regions. We have been assured that they will attend last days with a view to seeing the quality of graduates. We include it in our course promo as it is an indication of how far we are trying to go to assist graduates in gaining employment opportunities and .....naturally..... having done so, we are then accountable for the representations we have made. We have been asked not to specify the company name to the industry in general Morrigan. Last edited by morrigan; 15-07-2008 at 07:14 PM. |
