Hi All,
I'm looking for a Static or Psd position in Iraq. I have been told by one or two of my ex buddies that South African guys are no long hired because of the security clearance issue. Can any one confirm this? mdwest I would appreciate your comment on this. Thanks! |

not entirely true.. but it is certainly getting harder and harder to employ anyone from a country that is not in the coalition... the primary for this is the security clearance..
there are still jobs for Canadians (Canada is still in the coaltion in Afghanistan, but that doesnt apply in Iraq), South Africans, Kiwis, etc.. but they are getting harder and harder to place as the US Government is asking for more and more people to hold clearances on the contracts its issuing. Its relatively simple for an American company to obtain a security clearance for an American. Its a little more difficult for an American company to obtain a clearance for a Brit, Aussie, etc.. Its almost impossible to obtain one for people that are not from coaltion countries... Again, this isnt to say give up hope.. we do still have a number of positions on a few contracts that do not require us to obtain clearances.. and there are other companies out there that do not contract with the US govt, but instead do most of their work for the Iraqi Govt or for private industry.. but its certainly harder to find work now than it was a year ago... and its going to get harder and harder as time goes on.. hope this helps.. |
