IMPORTANT - PRODUCT RECALL
Stab Proof Vest ‘STABVEST’ OR NEW STAB VESTS

**PLEASE NOTE THE VESTS CONTAIN TWO OLIVE GREEN INNER KEVLAR PANELS (FRONT AND BACK). THE PANELS WILL BE IDENTIFIABLE BY THE GERMAN MAKERS DETAILS ON LABELLING OR DIRECTLY STENCILLED ONTO THE PANEL SURFACES.**

We have become aware that the above products have a lower protection level than required to withstand a knife or spike penetration as specified by the KR1 standard. As a result of this we are required to immediately recall the product. The defect can affect the safety of the product and may not provide the protection required to withstand a knife or spike penetration.

The products affected were sold as ‘NEW STAB VESTS’ OR ‘STAB PROOF VEST STABVEST’ with an additional description of ‘KR1 EQUIVALENT’ OR ‘KR1 STAB /PENETRATION PROOF’.

The products were sold through eBay (eBay - The UK's Online Marketplace) under the sellers user name ‘kombatukltd’ and the Kombat UK website (Kombat UK + Stab Proof Vests, Army Surplus, Knifes, Swords, BB Guns, Paintball Guns and Air Riffles).

The products were also available for sale from Kombat UK Ltd, 53 Norwich Road, Ipswich and related market stalls at Bury St Edmunds, Felixstowe and Snetterton. The products were also available through other distributors in the UK. If in doubt you should check your stab vest to see if it has the German makers details on the inner panels and check with the shop you bought them from.

If you have purchased an affected stab vest you should stop using it immediately. Please return it to the retailer it was purchased from for a full refund of the purchase price.

If you have any queries please contact Kombat UK Ltd on 01379 873555. Please note the office is open between the hours of 10:30am and 15:00pm. There is an answer phone facility and if you leave your name and number we will get straight back to you.

We would like to apologise for the inconvenience this may have caused and appreciate your cooperation in this matter.

No, I was going to but then when I researched into what they were made of... I ran like the clappers.
Tip for everybody looking into purchasing body armour- avoid ZYLON vests - current research by NIJ seems to indicate that the materials degrade far too rapidly, rendering the vest ineffective. Thats why the German police ditched a whole batch of vests onto the market- like the one above- becuase they found out that the vests were useless.
Remember with body armour you get what you pay for- go cheap, like the vest above and it could be fatal.

There is a great company in sheffield called Kit that make vests and other equipment. Have a look at their web site. www.kitinfo.co.uk. Run by Sean and Paula Tankard.
Mention my name they may give you a discount.

Should be ok, but what warranty are they offering and where are you getting it from? Make sure that it is new and unused- don't even touch if it has been issued or is surplus stock. Risk it hasn't been stored correctly, this will degrade bulletproof material quite badly.

Since the UK Police decided to equip most of their front line officers with body armour, every Tom Dick and Harry has been trying to get in on the act.

Developing and producing body armour to a government standard is an expensive and time consuming buisness. I would advise anyone thinking of purchasing soft armour to stick with established manufacterers. Highmark and Aegis (if they are still going) spring to mind in the UK

Leave the crap stuff, made by speculators trying to make a quick buck to the drug dealers, low lifes and general riff raff. As a previous poster said, you only get what you pay for, and real kevlar is not cheap.
