Default New Army Resettlement Boll*cks

Hi all,

I have just tried to submit my paperwork to start my Resettlement CP course only to be told that I cannot go with the companies I had as my 1st and 2nd choices as there is a course being ran near my place of residence therefore i must do that one.

Im in Catterick at the moment and a course has just be set up from Darlington college (Catterick's annex).

So I have to do that one.

The lad (Paul Hutchinson) who is running it seems to be genuin and gave me the warm fuzzy feeling that He knows his stuff but Im not impressed with being told who to do my course with.

Anybody know of him or the course? or had similar experience out there?

Thanks in advance

Jim D

i do know that resettlement can be a bit naff, i used to train for a company that dealt with resettlement and the process is rather baffling to many. I have just seen the Darlington College's CP course in their delightful 'come study with us cos we have a fab new college' brochure that someone just shoved through my door, and did wonder who was training it, i shall ask about locally for you and see if anyone knows of him or has trained with him

I did two resettlement courses, one was the £3500 Task course in 97, the other was a £100 potential police course. I payed for teh £100 myself and did it on my leave, the other was authorised by the MOD. Some regiments can be twats about these course, some really good.

jim,
try your own unit for assistance, it seems they want you (resettlement people) to do the cheapest option rather than your choice , cost cutting again , dig your heels in and persist , your just a number bud

Jim, Go and see your IERO and tell him that you want to go with a company that you want to go with, you should not be directed or refused a course on the grounds of accomodation, if he refushes then take it higher as ressetlement is your right. Again your IERO is the man/woman who holds authority over this not the unit. I have just completed my CP course with Longmoor and was very happy with the standard of course, accomodation etc (in fact every thing was superb) and so if you want to go with a particular company then you fight for it.

jim thats crap i did a course in canada. the whole idea of resettlement is that you choose the course and location thats why they have funding for accom. someone there is trying to earn an MBE by saving money.

take it higher.

Jim, I agree with the previous replies, dig in for the fight. As long as the provider is registered and the course at the right level for the ELC/Resettlement Grant, its your choice. You will have seen enough threads to know that the reputation of the provider and its instructors is very important.

Hi all, thanks for the threads.

Ive had a good chat with the bloke running the course and am happy, all the big Companies had to start somewhere, also im short on time now so im going to go with the one at Darlington college.

Ill keep you posted on my progress after doing it. If I have no joy then I have another 2 lots of ELC's that I can use.

We have tried to register as an ELCAS provider.
Keep getting knocked back because they require 3 years proof of trading (We have been around 2.5yrs)

They also state that there are already 2 companies offering ISPS training.
We know the other trainers and without being to disparaging they do not come from anywhere close to our operational marsec experience.

Unfortunately service leavers get directed to an inferior training provider.
This is not me bleating, just a fact.

We all come from a Circuit background and whilst we formed our business to make money we are also very keen not to see our like ripped off.

We might end up going down the road of restriction of trade.

John

Default Ive had a bit of luck

Hi all,

Thanks for the tips over the last couple of months.

As luck would have it, the course I was forced to take has now fell through, therefore Im doing the one that I originally wanted to do with nemesis.

Happy days.

What will be will be.
