CP5276 is on a distinguished road
CO19 : Just what I was looking for, a CP-trainers perspective on TASKs Internationals CP course? Please could you give me a heads up on this course provider and their CP-course (email or private message if you don't want to reply in the public forum section.)
In my current job role, I source and employ bodyguards for various corporate projects overseas. I have now been offered to go on this course, and thought this forum could be a brilliant opportunity to get your views on it. I am particulary intrested in the risk assessment / Surveillance section. Can the knowledge gained from course be applied in a corporate environment, or is it just a waste of my time?
Also, any tips on how to best prepare for the course?

Thanks!

Si

Choose your provider wisely, check or ask if they have a customer base, to many training entities out there at the moment, approx 60+

I would estimate that as much as two thirds of those companies dont have a customer base and dabble in protective guarding.

Going it alone is a mighty task in itself but the rewards do far outweigh the throwbacks,

David Meido will become famous soon enough
I am still new to this forum as well, but can I mention ourselves, Meido Consultants.

We have been involved in CP training since 1999, and the sia programme since its inception. We have had over two hundred and fifty people successfully through our SIA CPO course, we are a fully operational international consultancy (operations in over thirty countries in 2006/07), and would be happy to provide information.

It is slightly awkward to push ourselves, Longmoor and Nemesis are both highly regarded, as are the people at Greyman and some of the other people appearing on the various message boards.

Please feel free to see our homepage at Meido Consultants - Corporate Security, our training site at Meido Training - Security Training, and our latest newsletter for news of our recent activities at Meido Consultants - Corporate Security.

CP5276: We are often used by other companies to supply local support and resources, please feel free to let me know if this is of interest. We are particularly
strong in SE Asia, eastern Europe and the middle-east.

Regards...

I have heard a lot of good things about the Longmoor course. Might do it after I've completed TASK Internationals course, if I have the time. I am employed already, so only doing the course for networking purposes.
It is very hard to find reliable and experienced CPOs, as a good CV never can be seen as a guarantee for future performance..

Yes..you might be CID's finest..having served 5 years in Iraq, toured Africa naked on an Elefant fighting off bushmen with your bare hands..It all looks very impressive on paper.. BUT, would you be able to go straight from the dusty streets of bagdhad, into a VIP-loung at the airport, keep up an intellectually challenging discussion on the effects of global warming .. mentally carry out a risk assessment whilst memorizing 5 different back up routes. Work 48 hours solid and still be on your edge...

Hopefully, by doing the course, I might be able to assess others, and see how they function in different situations I usually only work with people that I know and trust.

David Meido: Ok, thanks for that. I am always on the look out for companies / CPOs with strong presence / (experience) in Middle East and Africa.

silent has a spectacular aura aboutsilent has a spectacular aura about
am thinking of taking the cheaper option and then getting my feet wet in the field (or do I mean sandy?) has anyone heard of Close Protection uk? They are a small firm near Wigan. Like I said, its a cheaper option but have 2 other courses later in the year to bump up the knowledge and they are with the big boys abroad.
