Content: Over the years I have been a serving soldier it's not often that I can honestly say that I enjoyed sitting in a classroom gleaning information via a powerpoint presentation, the information was relevant and more importantly backed up with the Instructors vast wealth of experience and good classroom technique. What was taught in the classroom was then transferred on to the practical aspect of the course where all the questions that are normally raised in the back of your head were answered. The classroom work followed up with the practical is a logical and proven way of teaching and the course structured in modules allowed it not to become boring in any way. There was no bluffing or machoism, which, if I am honest, was what I expected in certain areas of the course. We were all treated as adults at all times which after serving 24 years in the Army was like a breath of fresh air.
First Aid. The first aid instructor was absolutely brilliant, a good mix of humour ,sound advice and knowledge which complimented a well structured week of first aid. His technical knowledge was backed up with practical experience that made the information being delivered to be believable and achievable. His military background allowed him to interact with the course personnel in a friendly and approachable manner as the majority of the course were from a military background. He also gave every body his personal telephone number to contact him in case of any problems, which I thought was a particularly good touch. Driving. I think that my adrenalin levels have finally gone down now! I found that the driving aspect of the course to be very interesting, it was amazing the information that was passed over in such a short space of time. Having ex Rmp Police Advanced Driving Instructors taking the driving phase made the students on the course switch on and try and glean as much information from the instructors as possible. This has definitely wetted my appetite to do more driving and I have already adapted some of the skills to my normal driving routine. CP/ Weapons have to say that this has been one of the most enjoyable courses if not the most enjoyable courses I have done in 24 years of being in the British Army! The maturity and professionalism displayed by the lead instructor and his team was second to none. All the instructors/trainers were very experienced and were able to back the theoretical and practical lessons up with real life experiences which brought to life the reasoning behind the processes of training. Not only was the instruction enjoyable but more importantly it was safe which is something that I personally feel some training companies may fall down on. Firearms. This was the most enjoyable range package I have ever been on, it was safe, fun, progressive and allowed all personnel, irrelevant of their personal weapons training or experience to develop at the same speed without it being boring for the more experienced members or too difficult for the more inexperienced members. The package was also good because at all times the reasoning behind the shoots was being explained and therefore the understanding on the why we were doing things a certain way was clear and understood. The culmination of the week with the VIP, BG and PES shoot was staggering to see, as this was quite an advanced shoot especially for members of the team who at the beginning of the week had never even fired a firearm before. Great!!! Food & Accommodation. Absolutely great! The rooms were spacious, clean and ample for what we needed. I was more than happy with the accommodation standards, the rooms clean, well stocked with towels and brew kit and it was a pleasure to stay in. I cannot fault the food in either Slovenia or England in any way shape or form, it was tasty, varied and more importantly there was lots of it, the hosts appeared to be more than aware how tiring a day we had had and supplied exactly the right sort of food to hit the spot! The chef in England was the most accommodating I have come across in a long time, not once did he question the course personnel’s varied demands for food outside of his set menu's. Summary. A great course that I would unquestionably recommend to anybody, irrelevant of experience. The course was taught by a very experienced operator who was able to answer any questions about the varied field of CP. The theory lessons were always backed up with practical lessons and the reasoning behind why things were done was always explained. There was no machoism involved just honest realism. It’s a shame I did not do this course earlier in my career, that way I would have been able to impart to the head of my Corps a few practices that we should have adopted a long time ago. On a personal note, can I just thank you for one of the most enjoyable 4 weeks I have had, as I said a couple of times during the course, it was better than I expected. The content was interesting, well delivered and always with a sense of humour. Thank you Simon H, WO1 British Army – June 2008 WE ARE HAPPY TO SUPPLY STUDENTS CONTCAT DETAILS SHOULD YOU WISH TO TALK DIRECTLY TO THEM. Last edited by Longmoor; 12-06-2008 at 11:31 AM. |
