Is that a live fire course? If so, don't look for others, network, network, network.

You've done the training, anything more will not necessarily help you in getting your foot in the door.
I don't know the all the courses there, so please correct me if it's not a live fire.

Look I really don't mean to offend any one here but I've had this asked of me by a non Sec forces student on a CP course in London that I was guest instructor for and quite franckly considering his nationality it disturbed me.

So I will tell you what I told him

"for CP work that is Close Protection, all relevant skill sets can be learned in private courses and that includes live fire, both long and short version, it also inludes alot of op sec and many other traditionally military trained skill sets."

But I must ask what do you think a sniper does?

A snipers role is to mitigate longe range specific threats in a rolling operational team or to terminate specific enemy key personel. That in English means to kill people! point bloody blank.

There very few civilian positions for which this training is sought after skill, and those that are usually frouned upon by the UN to say the very least.

Wanting to learn and improve your skill sets is fine and commendable but for Gods sake think about it realisticly what is viable skill sets in our industry.

No Offence meant

Lock.............. City & Guilds will not accredit a bloody sniper course, ifyou do one the INSTRUCTORS name will be enough, however, think MTS (Hey mate) makesa valid point.......... You have done what's required, if the PMC's are not picking you up, it's for a different reason.............

(1) They don't think you have the right experience.
(2) You're too young/too old.
(3) They don't recognise or apprecate your chosen CP Course.
(4) Your intro letter is crap.
(a) You didnt address it to the right person.
(b) You didnt ask who to send it to.
(c) You haven't called them at all.
(d) You don't know anyone there.
(e) All of the above.......

(5) Your CV doesnt make good reading, too many reasons to list........

All of this SHOULD have been covered in your course...................

Mate you have asked this same question now several different ways.... take the advice of the many who have answered it each time... unless the job description you applied for is sniper specific .... then it is not a useful asset for a Psd role.

Get some other form of credible , useful instruction and some work history under your belt and network like a mad.
People will try to tell you that the industry is no longer about who you know..... one word TRIPE .... it is still about who you know , who vouches for you and where and when you worked previously. I don't see too many of the old sweats out of contracts for long....

They write an email, drop a call or three and they get back to work... the problem for many new guys and girls is that they don't have this network and haven t been introduced to the means of getting it... but here is a wee hint ... you were ex mil... presumably you worked with someone in the past who is now in the land of sand.... call them up and see what they can do???

Not trying to be unfriendly mts,

This same or almost same thread is now on several locations with the same question/ questions and each time the same advice especially reference sniper training.

Do we conduct sniper courses, Yes as do others I am sure,
Are they C&G / sia recognized , NO (no firearms course is)
will they assist employment for Iraq or Afghan , NO ....( Unless the role applied for is sniper specific.....)

Best advice regarding employment ?

See the comments above from MTS , Psd , myself , others .. all are pretty relevant and wont change from thread to thread.....
