It is a very impressive list of companies that offer CP training but how many can actually do the task. i know one of our members has been involved with trying to whittle down the companies by telephoning and asking them for a course and they said that they do not teach CP.
I will send them a PM and ask them if they will spread more light on the subject. It would also be useful but i know it will not happen if there was a league table so that people new to the industry were not ripped off by substandard training companies. On a different note has anybody thought how long it is going to take to get your license renewed, as this is all going to clash with the 10000 or so basic security licenses that were issued at the same time as the CP licenses. Do we apply now and lose 6 months of our licenses or apply on the dates that it is due and then not be able to work ( so called ). It only takes a short time to renew a driving license and a passport so hopefully this should not take so long, but i will not hold my breath. We may have to start dialog with the powers that matter or has been mentioned in the past or maybe have an association formed to be a spokes person for the industry. I know that some security guards are in a union but i do not want to go down that road, but all comments to this matter would be appreciated Regards to you all and if you are overseas, Stay safe. |

Well certainly the sia list is not checked as I have said before. I know one on that list that I worked for is no longer trading and that can be verified by companies house records. I think it is shameful that the SIA post a list that is neither accurate or verified after all people look to them for guidance. It would be nice if someone from the SIA could actually do an audit on their own practises and check their own data but I think we all know that is unlikely in the foreseeable future.
At least the training companies that are part of this community are open and helpful with regards to what they offer so at least we help in helping with that selection. |

renewing of CP licences 4 months prior to run out date and on this Licence renewal there is no need for another refresher course .
this is on the sia web site but like all things sia its difficult to find |

Like everything with the SIA, their list of training providers for CP licencing is far from complete. In fact if they want to go down the road of listing all those offering training they need to list EVERYONE, otherwise those not listed could argue they are adversely affected by the ommission. The IBA thru Swindon New College and Senate training are offering BTEC level 3 courses in Close Protection Operations. As are we the Protector Network, with more discounted courses for members. I can also affirm that our Uk training partner, Regal Security Training UK are licensed to instruct through BNU on C&G Level 3 protective security and appear not to be on the list. I will get on to Brummie right away and let him know but it is shameful that he is not included and as echoed above people look to the sia for guidance.
