Hi Cedrick, just a quick question about your friends company: Who are they and where did they get their experience/certification? I checked the website and it listed some of the instructors by name, but not their background. The names are not familiar to me and there are no solid qualifications listed. Did you attend this course?

I'm not nit-picking here, but when you endorse someone, it helps to give their background. Just having a law enforcement background is not enough these days. Students need to know that basic standards are being met before enrolling in these types of schools.

Hi jmaccauley,

I think, the better is that student ask to Marc what is the background of the instructors.

Write all on the website is, I think, not very good, if people are really interrested, I suggest to inquire Marc.

Best regards,

Cedric.

There are many good quality schools and instructors out there. The membership of this forum are considered very knowledgeable and have a reputation of providing good advice to those who have an interest in this profession. I would caution giving an endorsement without being able to verify the creds of the school and it's program. As a resource, let's be a little selective when advertising.

Don't be offended by my comments and if this was out of line, my apologies to the moderator.

I'm not offended, don't worry, but I prefere people ask directly to Marc about the background of the instructors ...

Moreover, the training will be in Mexico, not in Canada.

I totally agree with Jmaccauley, one should always verify the background of the instructors before signing up for a course.

I have personally seen students with no experience whatsoever coming out of a one-week CPO course and soon after, putting together their own bodyguard training academy. Believe me, it happens! This being said, a good instructor is not necessarily the one with the most extensive background. Very skilled people just don't know how to transfer their knowledge to others. And teachers with a limited background are often very good instructors. And remember, no instructor is good at everything. Some are good at teaching close-quarter combat, other are excellent for lectures, others are awesome when it comes to scenario rehearsal. A good course requires several skilled instructors with different skills.

By the way, I don't see why the instructors' background information should not be available on the site. If privacy is required, the instructors' names need not to be shown. What is more important to know, the name of the instructors or their skills?

Hi mate,

I am afraid I will agree with my colleague francios as in this forum we tend to help each others by giving information so, us (all of us) will benifit interms of training/courses and jobs etc. There are many good companies and some not so good out there and us in this forum trys to establish those by experiences so, other don't become a victim of them!!

Obviously you want to advertise you mate's company but to do it properly and effectively gather everything which matters to others.

Its just a thought & advise and my apologies if I offended you by an means.

DH....

Cedrick, again, I only asked about the credentials and background because you indicated this was a friend of yours. Perhaps you could contact him and have him join this forum and let us get to know him and his company. It will save a lot of "Google" time.
