Hi guys, Im interested in doing a Psd course but ive been told by some people that companies wont train you is PSD or HECPO unless you have had experience.

Mate I have seen lads without military experience doing better on training as lads with military experience. I have meet lads that are employed in high risk task without military experience after doing only high risk training. Give a call to lads that are named above and you will get clarification.

Personally, I think it is a horrendous thought to have a 'civvi' operate in a team in a high risk environment after only completing a Psd type course. I for one would not want to work in a low risk environment with an individual such as this if that is all they have done, let alone a high risk one. An ex-plumber who attends a 4 week PSD course does not make him an asset to that team but a liability. However, a slight difference is present when that individual has undertaken several years in a low-medium risk then attended a good quality PSD course. Even then, I wouldn't. A 'virgin civvi' working a job in Iraq or Afghan? -

the original poster was asking about doing a Psd course and says that some wont take people who have no previous experience.........

in line with your comments which are spot on........ we would ask exactly what kind of experience a person DOES have, before taking them on a PSD course. If its ex mil who have done some HE, we would take them and there are some other backgrounds we would consider.

Please bear in mind though that we are not always thinking of Iraq/Afghan....... HE work covers a variety of regions and scenarios.
