Two new classes are being offered by Sexton Executive Security that involve providing protective services in and around the maritime environment.

The 3 day program is designed to enhance the Protective Services/CP team with the new skills for dealing with the challenges of this unique environment. This course is not expected to make seaman out of the traditional land-based operators, but rather increase the abilities to predict and respond to security issues that may arise in these watery worlds. Like all Sexton courses, the security operators will be trained and drilled in preventative measures, as well as repelling potential unwanted trespassers or criminal boarding, either at the docks or underway.

An additional day will be set aside to familiarize operators with basic sailing, personal watercraft and diving.

The classes are tentatively scheduled for December 2008 in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida and Dubai early 2009.

Contact me for additional information or call Sexton Executive Security, Inc. at 703-293-6262 (sextonsecurity.com)

It would also be a good idea to attend the Ship Security Officers Course which will qualify you to be an SSO on any yacht all over the world. The certificate is internationally recognised and is a legal requirement that a certain number of the crew are SSO's depending on the size of the vessel and the pax occupancy. Further, it would also be beneficial to gain your RIB handlers qualification in the event of any fast ball/ emergency.

Good point Rich. The program thatI mentioned was not designed for the ships crew, which are required to have a Ship Security Officer. However, it doesn't hurt to have your protection officers familiar with those procedures also.

This program is designed for the CP/PPS who gets that last minute (aren't they all?)assignment to take their charge into this environment. When the principle wants to go, you go.

I will post the costs and additional course information in a few days. I apologize for posting without it but some final arrangements were being completed.

An update on the 3 day Yacht and Maritime Security Program for Dubai:
$2100 US for the 3 day class (1200 Sterling Pounds) includes lodging, meals and airport pickup/dropoff.

An additional day for $700US will cover familiarization with diving, personal watercraft and basic sailing.

Again, this is not designed to create full time seagoing security officers or SSO's. It was meant for those of us in Personal Protection who get assigned to waterborne details whether we're ready or not. We go where the boss goes.
