Hi Guys

When undertaking the training quals go for the best you can, but remember a qualification does not make a good trainer! Whilst C&G courses are good it is well worth your while looking at the CIPD courses. they are far more comprehensive and provide a far better foundation for training delivery.

Some of the trainers involved with CP at the moment are doing so on the strength of the 7302 and little experience, this is reflecting in the standard of operative on the ground and the variation in quality is clear to see.

If I can be of any help please let me know

I too have been looking at an instructional qualification to leave the RN with (to accompany CM trainer/1st Aid Instructor). Luckily I am starting an instructional job in 5 days so the RN are sending me on the train the trainer course, which leads to either or both the ILM Level 3 Certificate in coaching for team leaders and front line managers & BTEC Level 4 in teaching in the lifelong learning sector. Both of these require some additional work but are as recognised as the C&G awards.....so if you are in the forces, look into these as you may get them for free. I have been a small arms instrctor onboard a Nuclear Submarine for the last 4 years and was never given a teaching qual except an RCO ticket and some other useful certificates (not). Probably not a useful thread for many but someone may think its useful.
