Hi guys,

I have just completed the Longmoor security HEPCO course and thought maybe you would like to know what it is like in case you are looking for a training provider.

The course is broken down into 2 parts, the first being the sia Close Protection course and the second being the tactical firearms course.

SIA CP course.

This is held at a leadership conference centre in Oxfordshire. The facilities there are exceptional, the accomodation during the stay consists of on-suite single occupancy rooms with a double bed, TV and free internet access. Very clean and very nice!!!

The course itself was taught by 2 instructors, both with bags of CP experience both operationally and instructionally.
Colin has 22 years service in the Rmp with 7 years teaching at the RMP CP school.
Whilst Matt was ex RAF police with CP experience from there, as well as CP experience outside including 5 years in Iraq. (Won't mention the Supernova mate )

Both really nice, informative guys, very approachable.

The SIA course was great, included all of the SIA syllabus and then some. We had a 2 day tactical driving phase, which I believe is coming in as part of the SIA requirements, a 3 day recce phase....full on!!!! followed by a day and a half Vip phase, live!!! covering 3 counties, various locations and scenarios, all of which we had recce'd prior.

The tactical firearms was held in Slovenia and covered the Glock 17 and AK47.

The acomodation in Slovenia is shared on-suite rooms. The family that run the place are great, really friendly, with an excellent knowledge of english.
The food was awesome and plentiful and the range facilities were also good (approx 30 mins ride from the accom)
It started with an assumption of no prior knowledge to weapons, and so was great for the Non Ex military personnel attending.
All the stripping, re-assembling, safety and stoppages were covered prior to any live firing.
The first 2 days concentrating on the Glock and encompassed basic firing, double taps, firing from different sides, while walking, static, standing, kneeling and prone.

Then, we moved onto the AK47 for a whole day, using the turning, walking and firing positions we had previously covered on the Glock.

The final day.....included transition shooting with dual weapons, gradually building upto a fire and manouvering in pairs while withdrawing from contact and finally a full team withdrawal from contact including a full PES, VIP and BG...............awesome!!!!!!

All in all, I can whole heartedly recommend the Longmoor course, its instructors and the level at which they instruct.

One thing I can say, certain companies will limit the amount of rounds you can fire.....I think we estimated we fired around 1100-1200 rounds each over 4 days.....now thats a lot, we were firing most days....all day, which was great lol

Thats little strange since I heard from several people that the last course was far from great, Im refering to sia sp only.
Im not going to name or shame any so forget about that

Hi Hawk,

I can only comment on what I saw, heard, experienced for myself and was taught.
I thought I was giving an honest opionion of the course, not making a commercial pitch for the company!!
All I can say is that Longmoor have just run two courses back to back, mine which finished on Monday 8th February, and one that is still going and finishes next week...maybe you are referring to one of the other courses, maybe I should have been more specific with dates.

I have also just completed the Longmoor Hostile CP course and I can re-iterate everything that Midwales has put. I spent many an hour searching the net for different courses before deciding to do the Longmoor course and after completing it I am 100% sure i picked the best course on the market.

Just one last comment on the staff of Longmoor from management level to instructors, Everyone you spoke to had a wealth of experience and was very approachable who were more than happy to help you anytime of the day.

I Have Also Just Finished The HECPO Longmoor Course With The Lads Above. The Course Was Fantastic And Cant Express How Helpful The Instructors Were And The Knowledge And Experience The Instructors Posess.

Also A Big Thumbs Up To The 'Med Wing' Who Did The First Aid And Medical Training! Probably The Best Medical Course Ive Been On Since The Army.

I Spent Along Time Researching Which CP Course To Go On And Chris Brice The MD Of Training At Longmoor Sold A Fanctastic Course To Me. The Course Is Well Constructed And A Great Realaxed But Serious Approach To Each Phase Of The Course.

I Would Personally Recommend This Course To Anyone Who Wishes To Do A CP Course. From Start To Finish A Great Course! Whether Your Ex Mil Or A Civvy This Is The Course To Go For!!!
