Yep, I saw few weeks ago a guy on the range who blowed up his .44 Magnum with self-loaded ammunition :-) He also was lucky that he didnīt got injured.

Anyone know how this happens? Or what caused the magazine to blow up like that? Christ he was lucky!

The exact issue to why each KB (Kaboom) happens has to be looked at individual to find the specific cause. The video is limited in information.

KB's happen due to a number of reasons

1. Ammunition related such using cheap Reloads or reloading a rifle round with pistol powder / mixed powder, or some different ammo brands with known issues, or overpressure causing the case head to fail, or pressure build up from using underpowered ammo.

2, Chamber related such as chamber is on the small side causing pressure spikes, cracks or damage in the carrier that allow the hot gases to expand rapidly on the inside of the carrier, or a squib round that block the barrel, or dirt and debris (Extreme).

The question should be, what was the weapon doing before the KB ?
