I did two years security college got a diploma...Always wanted to get into bodyguard or pi work but never had the contacts etc....
Im a professional dj and doing quiet well..I knoow it doesnt sound that good but i make a good living and am weighing up going for the CP courses or trying to get into the Private Investigations.. I can keep djing and do PI work during the day or throw in the djing and do a months course in CP and risk the gauntlet.(lose my regular dj work and contacts) Might i add that the pay figure i heard for Irish guys doing CP work is only 1000eur a month extra what i currently earn Anyway sorry for hijacking the thread. Your best bet is to do college and get fluent in french/spanish actually make that arabic

Best advice is stay on at school, and then go to uni and get yourself a degree. Then maybe go into forces .... then security. Im only just doing my degree. I wish I had stayed on at school now i'm thinking I may have left it too late. Dont have any regrets and do it whilst your still young enough. Good luck in whatever you decide to do.

If you want to get a qualification in Security take a look at Bucks New University, they do a course in Protective Security Management. I joined the Army after leaving Uni early and a part of me wishes I had seen it through. There were no security quals like that around 10 years ago. There is very little about it on their website, so I would give them a call.

You wouldnt particularly have to do a degree in the security sector, at the moment I believe there is a foundation degree - Security and Risk Management and BA (Hons) Security and Risk Management, there are a few unis offering it. I see Nemesis have it on their site but it is through Bucks. Have you thought about forensic's or criminology....then go into forces from there, then I guess the world is your oyster! Depending how driven and focused you are, will depend on how far you succeed. Hope this info helps

main thing is you've got all the time in the world yet to make decisions about life long careers....so take your time!! I joined the para's at 22, trained as nurse after & worked for 15 years, left, went to uni and did an honours degree, lectured at college, owned a tattoo / piercing studio, door supervision, but over the past 25 years + of working I've kinda always homed back to security and at the age of 43 recognise that its time I concentrated on the next 25 years of work ahead of me! I've just finished my door supervision training and waiting for my SIA Licence before I plan my next move, hopefully into Close Protection. Although money is a good motivator, it should never be the only thing, as job satisfaction, team work, good buddies you can rely on and trust and meeting new people are just a few other things..good luck though, with whatever you chose...
