Well if you have had a bad experience with a company, constructive criticism is always good and after all your experience with the company is just that, your personal experience. Criticism can always be worded in a way that no one can take offence, and you can still get your point across. No point in slagging of a company who may have contacts with other security companies which could lose you work in the long run.

Why not let people tell their stories but without any names?

Not as simple as that mate, its a close-knit community on CP and alot of people know which companies individuals are working for.
There is no simple answer to it, it all seems to come down to personal restraint and common sense.

I think most operatives have had a bad experience of some form or another I know I certainly have and it cost me dearly financially not to mention the friendship I thought I once had, but you can spend way too much time on the 'what if' scenario. However, if I thought a company’s actions would endanger a colleague, etc then I wouldn't keep quiet, but I wouldn't do it publically. Raising any subject which could be viewed as slanderous or libellous and could have an impact no one wishes or desires no matter how genuine the initial intention is.

We have to remember we all have different opinions, different standards and values and that is what makes us who we are............. plus this is one of the few forums which doesn't do the 'slagging' off, so let common sense prevail and keep it professional. What we experience as bad, may not be so for another. It comes back to doing your homework before jumping in feet first. If I had a £1 for every call I have had starting with 'If only I had called so and so before hand.......' there would be a lot of money for some charity.

It's a forum, network, information is valuable, slagging off isn't!

Phew, that’s my two pennies, worth said....

This is a wonderful concept but the fact is that as per my last experience I WILL NOT work for the company in question if they are the last company on the face of the planet. My problem with "not telling all" is that the company does not have a problem with ripping off operators left and right... would you not like to read a bad review and decide not to go with a job offer from the said company and then save yourself money, time and copious amounts of pain in your ass???.....

Absolutely! Almost every one is connected to someone, some how in this industry. You are potentialy screwing yourself by publicly slagging a company off, although you may not realise for some time!

I think you may have missed my point. There is always a way to word and write constructive criticism so it doesn't look like a slagging or personal attack on the company you have a gripe with. If you know that a company was lax in certain procedures or rules and regulations were broken or set aside you can put together a criticism that doesn't look personal but everyone will know what you are talking about. Let me gave you a graphic example of using words properly. Northern Ireland for over 30 years was a bloody awful place to live, rival sectarian organisations shooting and killing each other in the most vicious ways possible. Then came along the Good Friday agreement. A written document, the whole irony was that it took 30+ years to put together a worded document that all could agree on, silly I know but only words, were no one could take offence. I know its an extreme example, but putting together, and the proper application of words can make the person or company at fault look rather silly and unprofessional. Sorry about the rant.

wot i find annoying is when we put together a covering letter and a nicely matched CV for jobs, they dont bother to 1. Acknowledge it. 2. thehey dont even have the decency to let you know they are not considering you, so you can move onto the next vacancy. These companies are leading palyers in the security manned guarding.

We all have to learn to play the poloitically game, it makes life that much simplier.

so am i right in saying it's not acceptable to say anything negative on another company or organisation?

For example if i had a poor time with a training company i could not detail this and warn other users that this occurred?

If this is the case how can you help new chaps entering the industry not get messed around. And example that comes to mind is the france chap who asks for 100 quid. Only by everyone telling everyone hes a dogey git are people to know..

Cheers
