Project 4 Solutions is on a distinguished road
Hello All

I was just talking to a friend of mine and we got onto the topic of the different associations and forums etc within our industry. I was just wondering what other resources people are members of and if they find them useful or not. Here are the one's we came up with. What are peoples views on them for content, value for money, topics posted etc etc

Close Protection World - www.closeprotectionworld.co.uk
NASP - National Association of Security Professionals - Home - A recognised Association within the Security Industry
GSI - International - Security Consultants
IACPO - the IACPO - Home
British Bodyguard Association - The British Bodyguard Association
UK-PSD - uk-psd.com - UK PSD, Ford, Honda
Working the Doors - Working the Doors
Security Oracle - Security Vacancies | Security News | Security Oracle
British Agents - The Private Investigators Resource Centre
NASTSA - NAST South Africa

Personally i'm a member of CPW, NASP, Working the Doors, NASTSA

Are any other people members of other resources and what do you think of them?

I am an associate member of The Security Institute, can't say that i have got a lot out of it, they seem to have quite a few conferences and the odd champagne reception though, and i think membership is £100 for the associate level and goes up according to the level of membership.

Security Institute - Welcome to the Security Institute - Security management, industrial security, security training, security education and Professional Security

My personal opinion is some of (if not most of the above) are a complete waste of time.

1. Most dont carry out ANY checks into the person applying for application.

2. Any man jack with no history, background, exp, can join. The reason this is, is because . . . they want your MONEY !

3. Good knows why people send CVs with all these memberships listed on there. Doesnt mean anything, just means youve paid money to join.

I would agree on the whole. The forums mentioned aren't a problem.. You dont pay and most of us only use them for a chat and a laugh.. But some of these associations, guilds, federations or whatever they wish to call themselves are a little concerning. All the information found on them is already in the public domain by the time said 'association' posts it... So what are you paying for??
