Although it's great fun going on CP,Driving courses, Weapons training courses etc at some stage in life(when you are burned out 24/7 hours) it's probably time to widen our horizons with educational skills. Security Management courses etc, which are recognized within the security industry and will be a benefit to our future chances of employment within this demanding industry. To those of you who have completed such courses, which ones have been useful and also been the most rewarding to you.Tx

I will refrase my last post, which decent courses are out there that are not a waste of time and money and can be recommended? Educational courses Management etc, I know there are a lot of them but which ones are recognized and are worth while. I am asking as I would like to attend such a course but would rather have the input of some of you guys, as to run into something use less. I have had ca 32 views to this post but no replies, sounds like we all like CP, Driving, Weapons training courses

Hello hope this might help you . I am doing the Bucks Foundation degree in protective Security Management, (its distance learning) in September. Leicester also offer a foundation degree as well as an BA honours if you want to go down that route.

What do you mean by recognized? By whom? You need it to be thought of as valuable by any potential employer.
Good luck. M |

I am currently on the Leicester Uni foundation course in Security & Risk Management and can say it will widen your security knowledge as it covers a lot of areas, and you can do it over 2, 3, or 4 years. An alternative one is Terrorism studies from the University of St Andrews which is a distance learning course. jordo18 |

I completley agree that degree type courses are the way forward and an excellent CV enhancer,The UN for example insist on this for most jobs, although having met some of their field operatives I have my doubts, they are more PC then the Labour party !
I do believe though even if you have your degree, the UK PMC market is very much "jobs for the boys" from UKSF or Para Reg backgrounds,in my experiance. That is not to put anyone off doing it,I have researched both distance learning courses mentioned.Being realistic though for UK PMC its what unit or what university you went to.For management posts. Also not mentioned is langauge training,I would have thought an Arabic speaker would be worth his wieght in gold,on my new contract I was surprised how many of the guys have working Arabic, obvouisly usefull for working with LNs.If you want to make friends here its the way forward ! and when you are relying on the locals to watch your back then you want friends !!I have a lot of catching up to do !!! shukrem Habibi !

This college is the top of it's game. Look at the instructors. The problem is waiting for an all English course to fill up...
They are the real deal, i know and work with most of the instructors myself. Their courses provide credits and the longer course a diploma that is recognized by the Israel Higher Education Authority which is the government education authority. About בית הספר ל×בטחה : About us Instructors: בית הספר ל×בטחה : List of lecturers It's the Wingate Homeland Security Academy. m The link looks like something after a rough night at the pub, i don;t know why...it's safe to click though :-) Last edited by mts; 02-05-2008 at 06:51 PM. |
