Was just thinking about the 72 of them and what the implications actually are. 72 virgin goats or virgin sheep..?

Either way, the only conclusion I can arrive at is that I were to have such an offer, I'd rather have 72 porn stars that knew exactly what the f**k they were doing...!

Nothing in the Koran specifically states there are '72 Virgins awaiting a Martyr on his arrival in Heaven’, The Hadiths, which are the documented teachings and sayings of the prophet Mohammed, are not part of the revelations as quoted in the Koran, but more a guide to the way a Muslim must live their life in accordance to Islam, however it must be noted that many 'well known' Hadiths are pious fabrications. One such Hadith says, "The least for the people of Heaven is 80,000 servants and 72 wives', the credibility of this or interpretation can easily be used to dup a person into thinking of themselves as martyrs for God and killing themselves and innocent bystanders.

To understand fundamentalism, specifically fundamentalism in Islam, it may be worth studying Wahhabism and Salafism.

Just to ellaborate, if anyone is interested in the psyche of a fundamentalist "The God Dillusion" by Richard Dawkins is an excellent piece of literature and is very current. It covers extreamists in most major religions and brings up some valid points that are hard to argue with.

Thats the problem with organised religions. It is the word of man not the word of God as written in the bible or any religious scriptures. In fact if you believe in God all holy books ask you to find your own connection to it, not to seek someone to communicate on your behalf as everyone has that ability to connect.

One phrase that sticks in my mind is "beware of false prophets" and I see all religious leaders as such as they elevate themselves above others which is fundamentally wrong in any religion. It also says follow the "word of God not the word of man" and leaders of religions are men not Gods but the sheep in our society or the ones that chose not to read for themselves are the ones that are being mislead by such men. Obviously at one point in history literacy was not common so a spokesperson who was literate was needed to convey a message to the masses but by doing this faith and power was handed to them and we all know what power does to people. In fact if you read any religious text properly it does say that there is no God as such but we are all God, or at least a part of that whole and its not an exclusive club for the privileged few.

By definition all people that go to church, synagogue, temple etc and pray to an altar or have an image of Christ or a cross are doing exactly what was told in old testaments that they should not be doing. "Thou shalt not pray to an image of God", the reason is it is not an entity, or an object (even giving it a name like "God" is wrong as again it is a creation of man) and to use an image belittles the true nature of it and also a symbol can be used to divide people which was not the point of any religion.

As far as the virgins, thats 2 1/2 months supply an then what? They will not be virgins any more so there is rather a big hole in that logic!
