Tell you one other thing: you will NEVER know enough and will be always researching as a consultant.

Read the above threads with interest on the CRG CONSULTANT COURSE. I have been a security consultant for the Oil and Gas Industry for the last 14 years and would be interested to see what the course is made of. I too have been waiting for the sia to finalise the qualifications and maybe this course will give some insight. If someone could pass on the details I would be most grateful.

So how do we think that the CRG course compares to the Anubis CSC course?

Im looking at doing one once the sia criteria has been set down.

For me sia is not an issue, as I am from Germany. I will attend the course in order to get more knowledge in the field of Security Consulting and I think that Control Risks as the oldest security consulting corporation is a good place to do this.
Regarding SIA Qualification in 2010, the Consultancy Course is based on the Security Consulting guidance of "Skills for Security". This draft was prepared as guidance for the SIA which will review if there is a need for a National Occupational Standard in 2010. The Control Risks course covers the draft requirements and additional material.

That does not mean the CR course is going to be accepted as an example of APL nor does it mean those draft standards will not change.

Do not underestimate the lack of logic in our education system...

ASE will become famous soon enough
Sorry, but I can't get my head round this subject:

A Security Consultant, if you were to require one, would be an expert in his chosen field. This field of expertise is the reason why you will approach him for his services. Some Security Consultants are experts in the field of Security Management – which I believe is where the majority get confused when discussing this subject.
There are short courses available (!), and the sia plan to include an accredited course structure (I have no idea what it entails). But if we are talking about “experts”, then perhaps you will agree that you cannot become a Security Consultant overnight. It takes time and experience and a dedication to your specialty. Below are some of the main topics that professional Security Consultants offer:

Bank Security, Bomb Threats, Business Intelligence, Campus Security, Cargo Security, Communication / Data Centers, Computer Security, Corporate Security, Counter-Espionage, Emergency Planning, Executive Protection, Facility Security, Fire/Life Safety, Gang Activities, Guards / Security Personnel, High Rise Security, Information Security, Law Enforcement, Loss Prevention, Malls, Nuclear, Parking Lots, Project Management, Research & Development, Safety, Security Surveys, Security Systems, Shoplifting, Special Event Security, Terrorism, Violent Crime…….

Do you get my drift ?

SPOMAN is on a distinguished road
I am attending an Anubis training day next weekend and I will be asking questions about the above topics and see if I can obtain a detailed course syllabus. I have already got my head in the books to learn in advance all I can about civvy side security management/consultancy prior to attending any courses. I will post the responses upon my return. I also contacted CRG reference their Consultancy course. They have added an IOSH qualification at the end, which is a good addition for any management position, however it does cost £4200 so one would assume that they and Anubis have worked hand in hand with S for S to come up with a standard that the sia will approve. Like you say though, time will tell and I for one will be watching very carefully.
