First of all my name is Russ. I spent 11 years in the Royal Marines with 5 years in a Commando Recce Unit. Some time of that I spent in NI on the surveillance side. Since I left the Corps I became a commercial diver for a while, but then got a job on the Al Fayed CP team. I left in 95 to help set up a team job in Algeria for a US Oil Company. I am now the Liaison manager [can't use the word security as it upsets the natives] for them. I recently passed my Security and Risk management degree from Leicester Uni. Looking possibly to returning to the UK sometime in the future and may need advice on CP and other security related courses.

Thanks for the welcome. I must admit that I stumbled onto your site while researching various SIA companies concerning CP courses. I have been out of the UK CP loop for sometime due to working overseas. I haven't bothered to do any SIA CP courses yet, as I will wait until the time that I finish out here. I keep up to date on all other aspects such as trauma medics and corporate risk based qualifications. Although I have been waiting for the SIA Security Consultant standards to be published.

Although I agree with the legislation for the Security Industry, it has messed a lot of guys up out there who have only worked overseas. So far, I have been impressed with the site so far, mainly because a lot of the information has beed factual. Especially on the realistic wages and jobs out there, with some sound advice on what to expect. Iraq certainly changed the whole face of the CP world, but if you are good enough at your job, word of mouth will get you though.

I will eventually have to do a few courses if I want to base out of the UK, so will be asking for advice on IPSA etc. Anyway, thanks again for the welcome.
