You sound like something that 'Blightey' would like to retain. What is the problem?......Money? Anyone here will tell you (if I am wrong, to use the adage.....the grass is NOT greener on the other side!). Any old hands like to differ?

Hi terrycarter2,

Welcome to the forum.

My first point is to agree with guiness, the grass might seem greener, but seriously read through the forum and see how many operators are seeking work!

Secondly like most soldiers you have choosen the Ronin SA course (good course), but have a good look around, talk to the ressetlement centre and find out exactly how much money you have to invest on your new career, don't forget you will have your ELC's also.
My advice is for you to try and get the most value for your money, also think about other skills like Surveillance, driving, etc.

Try looking at other training providers like: Morrigans, Regal Security Training, Argus, PSD, Longmoor, Ronin Concepts, ISS (Surveillance). Just a few more to get you thinking. Talk to the training providers and see what they can offer you.

By the way, are you posted at Pirbright at present?

All the best and stay safe.

Terry,

I have no doubt the Ronin course is good but it will take all your money. Whether you do it or another one you still end up with the same sia licence. I recently completed a course in Lisburn through Sion Resources and underwritten by New Buckingham University. It is run by Ex RUC and current PSNI operatives and was excellent. I live in Newtownards so saved on accomodation/ flights etc. I can pass on details if interested.

Cheers
Hannibal

Can only echo the comments reference the grass is not greener, think very seriously about this industry everyone knows blokes who have all the courses and the experience to go with it and they are still having no luck on the work front, luck of course is a big part of it right time right place and all that. Whatever you decide best of luck.

Alright mate,
Ive just attended and passed the ronin SA course, at 41 yrs old.
It isnt easy choosing the correct course to do. like you have already heard, have a good look around and ask your ressettlement officer. The one excellent aspect of ronin sa is the ambulance shifts that you do. this is not available to companies in the UK.
Also, keep your fitness up and try to avoid any injuries. I went there and i wasnt 100% fit, and i struggled on the fitness. log onto the ronin site and look at the fitness test and do it. Its not like a bpfa. you dont get to rest between the exercices. the pull-ups are wide grip. practice, lots.
Any other questions, then ask me, and i will try to answer them as best i can.
