Dont forget to factor your First Aid at Work (FAAW) course into your costings. It all adds up Im afraid.

You don't have to do First Aid at work for a DS license only a CP one.
License applications are taking about 3-4 months at the moment.
If you are unemployed at the moment see if your local job centre can get you on a free course, they sometimes do ones as part of a longer back to work type course. You could also try applying to companies like Rock Steady and Showsec who also provide stewards for events. Work as a steward to earn the money for you DS course and license.

Thanks for correcting me littlewoman. I thought that FAAW was standard across the board.

No, they think if we find an unconscious drunk face up in a toilet cubicle and vomiting or have someone with arterial bleeding from a glass attack that we should go and find the duty first aider.

It should be a requirement but isn't and sooner or later someone is going to die because of it.

I agree with you little women, I think FAAW should be a requirement to all the sia licence training courses. Doors especially, one girl tried to commit harry carry on one of my shifts, good job that one of us was on hand who was trained...

Hi scb, the pub opposite ewood park has doorstaff on matchdays. The company running the doors is Elite Security. Speak directly to those guys, Danny, Ray or Geoff are normally there along with a shortish tanned guy called mo. All really nice lads they will point you in the right direction. As for courses there are quite a few in your area. Rossendale college runs one and Close Protection uk in Wigan run one both equally good and both coming in at just over 120 quid i think. Hope this helps. PM me if you need owt else.
