Having done door work for the last 19 years there are some times when a female door supervisor can de-fuse a situation a lot better than a male.If you fancy getting into door work find a reputable company who will probably even put you through your badge. Also when you are new maybe it would be best to start on a larger venue where you can pick up valuble experience and have the backup of a good team when the poop does hit the fan.I hope this helps you...

I am doorperson , im female its hard work sometimes not as glamourous as people make out. You have to be able to be part of the team and not end up disapearing when shit hits the fan. Some of the other opinions I agree with others I dont. When a person is drunk and it kicks off they dont give a shit whether your male or female.

I wouldn't say im big but im not small at 5'7", I have gone home with a few bruises and swellings before. I have been lucky I guess, its not just the fists you have to watch out for its all the other shit you have to put up with, blades , bottles, chairs and the occasional table. if your really lucky a bullet will fly your way!!

Dont let anyone put you off if its the path you want to take, but be aware of the hard work involved for a tenner an hour in most cases! You cant always choose who you work with either, working with a good team is sometimes like a lottery... Im lucky the guys and gals i work with are a good team.

If you want anymore help or advice drop me a line.

Regards

Hi read your ad have been doind dooor work for 18 months now if you are unemployed you can get your sia training, which i now believe is about £200, and badge which is a further £240 paid for by benefits as have a friend who has done this. Door work is quite a challenging job you are dealing with constant conflict and have to tell people no a lot which they dont like. A lot of big clubs like to have a female DS (door supervisor) for doing searches on females. The industry is very male dominated and women have to work hard to establish themselves and there are some very good female DS out there. The badge is allways a good thing to get and would hghly recomend getting it as it entitles you to a lot of work especially in summer there is a lot of festival work were you can make a lot of money without the hassles that the doors bring. any way best of luck ADAM.
