door supervisors are also known as bouncers, door stewards and doormen. They re responsible for the security of staff and customers bars, pubs and nightclubs. They also work in other licensed premises, special public events and taxi queues.

They maintain order keeping people safe.

They control entry into the venue, checking the suitability of people coming in. They may check ID to confirm that the person is not underage. They may enforce a dress code, and they may carry out searches of people for objects such as drugs or weapons. They can refuse entry to anyone they consider unsuitable.

Their door supervisor duties can include:

- controlling queues to avoid crushing and queue jumping
- dealing with conflict inside and outside the venue. Watching people's behaviour.
- escorting people out of the venue and if required restraining people, if necessary
- dealing with emergencies such as fights.
- supervising people as they leave the building making sure they do not have any alcohol in their possession.
- Assisting First aiders, management and the police.

Door staff normally work in teams no less than 2. Some use radios to keep in touch with each other aswell as other bars, cctv and the police.

Would you believe me if I told you I worked a bar in Belfast city centre for three and a half years with a 300 capacity (I count myself lucky and quite good at my job ) by myself, I have a partner now who says he doesnt know how I did it cos theres nothing as bad as getting a hiding by urself !

I did a door down in Dublin for 3 years on my own, had a bit of trouble but nothing major.

If I had to refuse someone I would just say no, then blame everyone else such as the manager, the boss's dog etc as to why I couldn't let them in, it worked most times!

I just used to say no !!!! apparently Ive been told by very many customers that im incredibly evil looking, when I look in the mirror I seem ok to myself, someone once said that you just dont gave us a look you look at our souls tee hee !!!
