If you think you're hard and should have been in it you're too late but we're taking names for next year.

Please tell me it's not real, it's not happening, it's just a bad joke...

you'd really like to think it was just a bad joke.... then again people have done many dumber things for the lure of ten grand.

this is a very bad idea, ive never worked the doors and never want to,but some of my best mates are doorstaff and they are bright, smart and quick thinkers

i also have good friends who are totaly unconnected to the security world, and they often comment that door staff must be mentaly challenged, have bad attitudes etc

this will further wreck the image of good hardworking lads/ladys whos job is hard enough as it is

Guys, I'm surprised at you. You might be amazed to know that some doormen do like to fight. (And I don't mean when they are working) They box, (and I'm sure there are some on this forum that do it as well) They box to keep fit, they box to learn about themselves, they box because they enjoy it.

This is not cage or MMA. This is not last man standing, bare knuckle or no holds barred. This is boxing, boxing in a controlled environment with their mates egging them on. So yeah there is a bit of larging it up, but the guys that do it will probably really enjoy themselves. And yes "Britains Hardest" is a bit of 'red top' banter to drum up interest but it will also be a bloody good night out.

Lighten up guys, have a night out!

No offense FATBOB we couldn't care less if it was naked mud wrestling. The point is doorman + Boxing = an image that most door supervisors would rather not have. To be honest you also choose the wrong website to post this on the majority of people on this forum are well seasoned professional operators who have spent years training and learning to be the best at there work and help change the imagine of the operator, from one of a knuckle head pumping iron down the gym to a highly intelligent and resourceful operator. When people ask me what I do and I tell the most still imagine some overweight or steroid pumped bald headed idiot strutting around like he owns the gaff which is not the image as a CPO that I want portrayed. As I said in my last post on this topic I hope the sia comes to some sense and revokes all your licenses and shuts the event down, because as far as i am concerned you are just damaging the fragile image of the industry and anyone involved in this event is downright irresponsible.

None taken - despite what you are saying we have had some very positive feedback, people see it as a bit of fun. I take your point I may have posted it on the wrong forum and I take your point about appropriate images being portrayed.

I don't think the average man in the street is going to take as much interst in this event as the door supervisor fraternity. That is really why I posted here. You say you and others have worked hared to improve your standing ,well good on you but you can't control other peoples choices and I don't think you have any right to try.

As I said previously it should be taken as a bit of fun - take it or leave it.

Bob

Mick,
You make a good point mate. It wasn't my intention to get invloved in this issue or debate due to the fact that I have never and will never be employed as a door supervisor. That is not to detract from the great job that you do guys and girls...its more to do with the fact that I'm a midget and thereby... my small status would always encourage the third party to lets say..'Have a go'... (Before the replies flood in please...its just a joke!) We all have the CHOICE here to take it or leave it...thats an example of a mature democracy and individulas on this site will be in an position to exercise an 'informed' choice...

Like you Carl I never worked on any doors either, but I can see the potential for damaging a reputation of the industry that has for a long time attempting to shake off old stereotypes of the massive knuckle dragging , skin head with a flat nose and charm of a house brick!!

The professionalism and standard has increased dramatically in the past few years and I feel this is a backward step. But we all have a choice ...

Oh don't worry Mike, I see your point completely along with others who have expressed a concern over this event. Strangely enough the language you use to describe previous incumbents of this post is exactly the same language I accused senior Investigators from the sia of using, in the way they have portrayed and treated this industry and many involved with it. No, I respect the concerns mate and hopefully En Shallah... this event will come and go without affecting the professionalism of many door supervisors out there doing a sterling job.
