I think annie and the mods have it right, each profession has a skill set, whether it be CP, door work etc and that includes....conflict management, communications skills, first aid, physical intervention skills, etc.
Your profession has suffered from a poor reputation for many years and the
sia has tried to re model this to a point.
Fighting is not in the required tool box and the competition just adds more mud to that already thrown at your trade. No wonder so many punters come out of clubs with serious injuries from door staff. Occasionally there is a need to up the tempo but good team work and physical intervention skills can prevent people being choked, losing teeth, getting stamped on, having their arms broken from egotistical over zealous staff (Accepted there are many professionals out there who don't do this and therefore I'm sure those who are professional will agree)
