Hi guys, new to the forum.

Briefly, used to be the manager of a large Surrey nightclub back in the day but now have to apply for a badge. All new to me. Just checked application online and it says "minded to refuse" application. What does this mean?

Hi Raymond

I have a friend that this same thing has happened to him. Basically they have found a reason not to give you the sia Badge, so you need to think if there is any criminal convictions or charges outstanding against you.

My friend ran about for a full week getting letters from everyone from fellow door supervisors, Police Officers, Trainers such as myself and MP's to state that he was a good guy and should be given his License/badge, he is still awaiting their decision. Dont expect them to clear this up soon, they can take months to resolve this matter. Makes you wonder what they are doing with our £245

Thanks mate, its a nightmare. Had minor domestic at home and Police were called. Nothing drastic. Police wanted to give me a caution, I asked whether it was gonna show up on my CRB and they said no - well you guessed it, it has!

In touch with DI's of Surrey Police at the mo challenging the information that was given by the Officer in Charge and the validity of the caution. Will see how it goes and also send off character references etc. What a nightmare, they took the £245 though!!!

Never , ever believe the police when they say a caution does not show up on a CRB check.
They will always say no cos that way they get an easy, positive job.

I think if you accept a caution you are admiting you have done something wrong. If you hold a sia badge this is the fastest way to lose it..this what ive been told .im sure someone with more knowledge will pick this up.
What happens if you refuse a caution???

Hi mate

I accepted the caution after I specifically asked the Officer whether it would show up on a CRB - he said no. Caution has now shown up and my partner and I are in direct contact with the DI of the Police force where it happened and she is investigating. Basically my partner refused to give a statement 3 times and she also specifically asked whether it would affect my sia badge - she also was assured it wouldnt. Conveniently the police officer now "cannot recollect" the conversation he had about saying the caution wouldnt appear on a CRB. We're taking it all the way and hopefully will have the caution revoked due to the circumstances surrounding the caution. I would have declined the caution if I knew it would go on a CRB and then the Police would have to go to the CPS to go to Court and my partner wouldnt of let that happen. It was an incident that got blown way out of proportion and the Police came down heavy handed.

Yeah, wish I hadnt now. The thing is they also asked my partner for a statement three times, which she refused to do and only gave one when they assured her it wouldnt go down on a CRB and affect my badge.
