Does Size Matter?

In your honest opinion does size matter in this profession?

I'd like to think most situations can be solved without restraint/physical intervention but obviously the time will come when things get physical so do you think the small guys or women are suitable for this line of work.

Take a 5'5 125lb women...what do you think her chances are?

There is another post of a similar nature to this but I believe the general opinion is as long as the individual is capable of the job in hand then no size doesnt matter.

I agree with R2700m, if you can do your job that's the end of the matter, your size does not come into it. That should be the profesionnl attitude.

Hi BB,

Recently a door supervisor was sacked in Reading for being too short and It was on papers aswell. I know the club (shakura)and their Head doorman and basically he mentioned he was not up for the job ?? Not sure whats the truth....

I have seen slim build guys doing the doors now a days in Reading area which is famous for clubs and bars and I am sure they are trained on retraints, escorts etc and fully confident to deal with any issues (NOT).

Size doesnt matter, attitude and ability, and I dont mean physical ability, I mean the ability to handle a highly charged situation in a calm but firm manner coaxing, calming, defusing manner. I found even in Belfast nine times out of ten most situations can be defused without resorting to the physical and as i say even in Belfast hardened killers have a problem lifting their hands to a woman.

I agree to a certain extent. You dont have to be a 6'6, 20 stone monster. However, I think you do have to be an average size. For example if your 9 stone piss wet through I dont really think you'd be able to deal with some situations. Just my thoughts mind you.

Well i am nowhere near 9stone, wet or dry and i personally know another female on here that is very similar in size and stature to me, and i know for one that i'd never in a million years think of doing anything other than running away from her.......particularly quickly at that. Unless she was getting the round in obviously!

And yes we have already done this a short while ago, and i think we mostly came to a similar conclusion, size doesn't matter...... we have been telling men that for years..... surely you have got it by now!
