For anybody working is DS...would you mind answering some questions I have? I'm just interested in you personally not a general answer.

Is Door Supervision your fulltime job or a job on the side?
Is DS your main income?
How many hours a week do you work? How many days?
Did you send CV's to employers or just apply to adverts?

Thanks in advance

Hi Blondeblackbelt,

Although I have some DS experience but now spend more time working and checking the Door staff in London and Berkshire area and made many friends who works on the doors. answer to your question

Full time job - NO only did 2 evenings mainly weekend
Income - Nop only for some extra cash
Hours & days - approx 16-20hrs and approx 2 evenings
Job application - through a friend who was already doing the doors

Majority of my friends in London and Berkshire, they all do part time and mainly weekends and dont wish to do full time as they have committed full time careers.

hope it answers some of the questions and things you want to know about this field.

DH

VICTORMACE will become famous soon enough
Its my full time job,I do 37 hours a week squeezed in from thursday night till sunday night. It generates my main source of income and I've always got my jobs through recommendations from other people and average time in any one job is 3 to 5 years on some occassions doing four different bars a week.

Hi,
I get door work through collegues or people I know already working at particular venue.
Usually no formal interview just an informal chat over a coffee.
The hours I do depend what other work I am doing, I know some people who work
full time on the doors.

Hope this helps.
Regards

K9medic is on a distinguished road
With me it’s a part time job, I only work Saturday nights these days (about 5 hours each night). The pay is defiantly NOT the main income. The manager of the club I’m at now phoned me to ask if I was available. Every other job has been word of mouth except the very first club, that one I seen the job advertised in the local paper.

Not DS anymore but it was part time, then went full time in the office to put in all the requirements for licencing etc, (more stressfull than the door!)

Never interviewd, got work by word of mouth and when the shoe was on the other foot I would get the basics of the person applying, the stuff needed for employee files etc such as proof of address etc, but as for doing a proper interview I left that to the head DS that they would be working with, after all it was those guys that they had to stand beside. I had interviewed some guys that seemed top blokes during the interview, but turned out to be very problematic on the door, therefore I let the Head DS do it instead.
