And no doubt the winner will now become the target for every drunken yob who wants to take a crack at 'Britain's Hardest doorman'.....bet his colleagues just love working with him now!!!!

Had it simply been what fatbob claimed, an evening of boxing, then so be it, but the shere fact he felt the need to name it 'Britains hardest doorman' is where my grief is over the whole thing.

It has brought shame on an industry desperate to clean itself up and be professional.........I hope your proud of what you have achieved FATBOB i really do
Shame?, far more things to feel shameful about in the security game then off duty doorman boxing!

I am very proud of what was acheived that night -

Yes perhaps you're right - I'll suggest he tries "Do you know who I am?" that always impresses people.....

So anyway, what has boxing to do with being hard???

But seriuosly, "lovely" picture, exactly the kind of cheap sensation that media want,
once again "brawls over brains" image will overshadow all the door staff, no comment...
So ill informed, so clueless. MMA was never mentioned.

All very lower brain, where as your job requires what? MENSA accreditation and weekly disertations towards your doctorate ..........

Sorry you don't agree but I think the majority on here are of the same opinion. "You have so much to learn"......my life is a continual learning curve.

Nobody is doubting the qualities it takes to be a sucessful DS; many of us on the forum, myself included have stood on club doors and done/do the job, I owned a company employing DS and worked the doors myself.

But the marketing and publicity of this event is intolerable to those of us who consider ourselves to be hard working, well trained and experianced professionals in the security field. An industry that is hugely missunderstood my the public precisely because of the past impresstion they have had of us. We ask for better understanding, for better rates of pay, better working conditions and an apreciation of our professionalism, and then an event like this comes along marketed to the public (the very people who pay our wages) portraying a blood thursty gung-ho hard man image!!!!

Nobody is doubting the skills and discipline of boxers per-se; but this was not just a boxing tournament.

I'm afraid FATBOB that it is you who has "so much to learn" if you think such displays do any of us a favour.

By all means persue your endeavour to find the nations hardest door man, but I'm pretty confident nobody on CPW wants anything to do with it or to even hear/read about it. Take that as part of your learning curve.

There was never any need for the industry to be mentioned in the first place. There could have been a boxing match, and proceeds going to a charitable cause. Instead it has caused such an uproar, probably bringing more attention to it than a charity match would have, thus making a bigger lining of pockets for the organisers.
There was no reason for it not to go ahead..

Although, who says the SIA wants to "really" clean up the industry? The govt want us to stop smoking and driving cars, but they are happy to cream our taxes on these!

I'd by more than happy to stick my name to such a petition.

A petition... FFS

There you go FATBOB (see below).

Honestly though, you are loving this aren't you. You got a public pasting on the forum when you presented the idea and now you are back for more. You must be having a chuckle.

Ubiquitous
Being or seeming to be everywhere at the same time; omnipresent.

Irony

    2. An expression or utterance marked by a deliberate contrast between apparent and intended meaning.
    3. A literary style employing such contrasts for humorous or rhetorical effect.
    4. Incongruity between what might be expected and what actually occurs: "Hyde noted the irony of Ireland's copying the nation she most hated" (Richard Kain).
    5. An occurrence, result, or circumstance notable for such incongruity.
