FATBOB is on a distinguished road
Britains Hardest doorman competition was won last night by Brummie Steve Pettit. Britains Hardest Doorman | KO Promotions | EBF | Knockout tournament | boxing | Manchester

Sixteen fighters spurred on by a £10,000 cash prize and determined to make their mark on the event battled through the knockout stages with Wes Cooke and Steve Pettit making it to the final. A valiant attempt by Cooke but taken to the floor by Pettit in the second round.

The event was watched by a sell out crowd and included celebrities from the world of boxing and TV including Graham Hill, Big Joe Egan, Matthew Hatton, the cast of Shameless, Emmerdale along with the ubiquitous BB contestants.

The event was a real success for all concerned. Great boxing, well staffed, no hint of trouble amongst the watching crowd. Great suport and great policing from Merseyside Police.

Hats off to The Liverpool Olympia for having the balls to host it and an equally sincere 'up yours' to those that wanted to see it fail or predicted a riot.

This was top quality boxing, a great night out - one of the best nights I've been to for years.

Thanks to all those of you that had the common sense to see this for what it really was - a bloody exciting boxing tournament.

So until next year and Britains Hardest doorman 2009....
Good night!

Great; I'm sure the event will have done the security profession a world of good, showing a sceptical public that we are a trained professional bunch.

Not taking away the efort of the competitors, but I can't help but question the idea behind the marketing or indead the concept.

Obviously we now know who the toughest, hardest bad-ass "professional" DS in the UK is, and the public now see just what skills and levels of training are involved in the industry, making them respect us even more

My only shame is that I will never have one of the super-ace sia licenses issued as a show of extra level of training and professionalism of those bouncers who made the grade!!.......because of course, the industry governing body endorsed the competition for its gladiatorial valour

Proved i think that there are some utter idiots out there who have so little respect for the industry that they had little thought for what this event would do to anyone else. To how it would simply back up the already beligured perception that joe public has of doormen, and to simply make those of us within the industry who make this our careeer, with good ethics and a wish for an altogether cleaner and better image simply shake our heads in wonder at the shere idiocy of such a pointless event.

And no doubt the winner will now become the target for every drunken yob who wants to take a crack at 'Britain's Hardest Doorman'.....bet his colleagues just love working with him now!!!!

Had it simply been what fatbob claimed, an evening of boxing, then so be it, but the shere fact he felt the need to name it 'Britains hardest doorman' is where my grief is over the whole thing.

It has brought shame on an industry desperate to clean itself up and be professional.........I hope your proud of what you have achieved FATBOB i really do

Very true Annie, is it going to stop trouble when the affored doorman says "by the way I'm Britains hardest doorman" I think not, you will get every halfwit in the surrounding areas and beyond wanting to prove something.

So it was boxing comp. I thought it was supposed to be MMA???
So anyway, what has boxing to do with being hard???

But seriuosly, "lovely" picture, exactly the kind of cheap sensation that media want,
once again "brawls over brains" image will overshadow all the door staff, no comment...

TheTRUTH is on a distinguished road
Mizengo Ikombe won his fight in the prelims

BUT the ref gave it to the Manchester fighter.

Was a fix and farce, no wonder most people left after that fight.

Will never recommend this - It was just a way to line the 'Manchester' promotors pockets
