Hi.. I'm Steve and I am the appointed Branch Manager of the NDSA for Yorkshire.
Why me? Well seems that my extensive knowledge and experience may have counted for something after all. I have been involved in the Security Industry for over 20 years and have been based offshore apart from the last five years where I have been based in the UK, both down South and up North. I am also an Associate Member for the British Institute of Innkeepers and e member of the Police Specials Forum and the Close Protection Forum and Surveillance Forum. I am also Level III - Close Protection Trained and I am awaiting the next term to study a Degree in National Security & Counter Terrorism. I also work in the field as a Private Investigator and due to recent changes in legislation by the SIA, I will, like everyone else have to sit an examination for the Level IV License to operate within the Law when it comes into force and I am now a registered Investigator with the United States Secret Service. I have a varied experience and have been third party contracted for such clients as her Majesty's Customs & Excise (UK V.A.T Reclamation) and directly with the Isle of Man Government in supplying security for the multi-million gas-line pipe contract in association with the Manx Electricity Authority and Parsons Brinckerhoff(PLC). I have also provided on site Film Set Security in the Isle of Man and personal drivers and close protection officers for high profile clients. I am still on a learning curve, even after all this time and it's an Industry I like as the challenges we face in this Industry are never the same, not on a daily or weekly basis. With this in mind, it is hoped that I can bring Yorkshires' door supervisors to the NDSA and Police Officers alike as I believe that as 'Law Enforcement Officers' we should work in close community with one another as well as other official bodies. Not only to put the NDSA on the map so to speak but to collate everyone together where we all have a voice and that voice will be reocignised as a Professional Body and represent the Door Supervisor as he or she should be If you are a door supervisor based in Yorkshire and wish to join the NDSA please contact: Steven England, AMBII.ds, NDSA Telephone/SMS: +44 (0) 7957 666141 Branch@the-NDSA.org.uk NDSA-Yorkshire@o2.co.uk Cheers Steve, AMBii.ds, NDSA (Yorkshire Area Manager) NDSA.dc (National Association door supervisors Data Controller) |

Hello Mansec,
Congrats and well done on being appointed a NDSA area manager for Yorkshire! Robin Barrett has been working hard to get the NDSA off the ground. Also welcome to the CPW site, I am sure your experience and knowledge will be most welcomed by the other members. Kindest regards 80085 |

what does The NDSA propose to do for the much beleagure DS suffering out there. THe sia do Sweet FA, what will you do.
Pay.(I earned just under £10 ph some 30 years ago.) Conditions. Insurance. Support and respect. Why would the police who have their own association to support them be interested in coming to the NDSA.and why would we want them. The SIA is a goverment body and despite that the police view us at best as thugs or idiots. First things first Pay and conditions. I must say its a very interesting and varied background you have. But I'm sure most of the guys on the cold, wet and sodden doors out there. Would like to know what doors you've worked recently. What have you experienced of the crap out there. Listen I don't want to be an old grouch, but the SIA promised us the earth, instead they kept us waiting, hanging in the breeze, duped us, F*%ked us, and made us pay through the nose for the privelage of a shafting. They then expected us to thank em. Will the NDSA improve pay and conditions or will it allow the current tragedy that is the modern DS training and testing to continue turning out fodder, only fit to hide away in a smelly corner making us all stink of incompetence. I want representation, I want some one to care, but I need some one who knows what we need, because he's been there. Best of Luck Steve, if you convince me you are what we want and need. Then I will be your biggest advocate. We are tired and weary. we need some one who will go old school and strike the fear of God into the SIA, so we can earn a decent living safely, with support and some pride. |
