Ukraine Travel Warnings

This advice has been reviewed and reissued with amendments throughout. The overall level of the advice has not changed.
Around 61,000 British nationals visited Ukraine in 2006. Most visits are trouble-free. The main type of incident for which British nationals required consular assistance in Ukraine in 2006 was for replacing lost and stolen passports. You should be aware of petty crime, especially in crowded areas and tourist spots or when using public transport.

There is a low threat from terrorism. But you should be aware of the global risk of indiscriminate terrorist attacks, which could be in public areas, including those frequented by expatriates and foreign travellers.

You do not require a visa for ordinary visits of up to 90 days. See the Entry Requirements section of this advice for more details.

Further information for football supporters visiting Ukraine for the UEFA Cup and Champions League games in September and October can be found on the website of the British Embassy in Ukraine: UEFA Cup Football, Ukraine.

We strongly recommend that you obtain comprehensive travel and medical insurance before travelling. You should check any exclusions, and that your policy covers you for all the activities you want to undertake. See the General (Insurance) section of this advice and the Travel Insurance for more details.
