Depends on the person, I have worked with three of my partners so far and each time it was a great experience, after all we knew each other like a book, trusted each other implicitly and just seemed to know what each other was thinking which is handy. Depends if you can keep detached while working and depends if you really want your partner around all the time!

Sorry guys, but ine hting that has beenm skirted round is the double standard applied to female cp's. Although it is stupid and irresponsible to have relationships with fellow team members on a contract , the woman is actively condemmed yet the man receives little or no censure. The boys own attitude of "he's a bit of lad, she's a tart" still holds true, I have known married men have affairs with sinfgle woman and all the condemnation has been directed at the woman.

With regards to the contracts, whatever the job, whoever is on ti needs to be able to fulfill all aspects or else they shouldn't be there. On our contracts the only real concession is wherever possible we try to get separate showers, but even this cannot be guaranteed. We have had some brilliant women who have been prepared to take all conbditions alongside the guys and guys that are always trying to look for an easy ride and not pull their weight.

There should be no concessions for ANYONE,

....... apologies, pressed send half way through sentence....
nor should there be double standards operating.

It is nt about the ability to fight, it is about the ability to anticipate and react to a situation. If you are fighting, who is protecti ng the client?

i have never had any issues with males, if you ket them know when you feel they step over the line then thats fine, but bottle it up and you do yourself no good.

i currently work with 10 guys under my command and we all have respect for each other, experience and commitment to work counts, if they take the piss on a job in terms of breaks etc they soon know about it!

i enjoy working with both but hate weak people who moan all the time :-)

Not a good idea to have a relationship with any one on the team, I am currently commanding 10 guys who are great to work with and we socialise along with their wives/girlfriends.
I tell all new team members no fraternising or they will be split up, which means one of them has to leave the team.
stay safe

Personally I don't think it matters, male or female.
as said before, respect hard earned and easily lost, and that as certain positions are not gender specific.

Some things are, like client requirements and bits and bobs of equipment/clothing.

I'm currently in the process of sorting some designs for kit and am looking into having them produced as a trial by a well known company.
I am interested to hear if there are any women here that have got things that they think: I wish that was available for us as size and shapes differ from men.

As far as dating within teams: nonono, weather m-f, f-f, or m-m, it shouldn't happen and it is not good for team dynamics.

I think (and maybe some may agree, some may not) after the stigma of the 60's-80's, police forces evolved, as did the Fire Brigade and the Military.

The presence of women doing what was traditionally considered to be male posts, caused shock waves through all the forces. ( civi and armed )
But now, not an eye brow moved if challenged by a female police officer on the street; some excitement maybe, if a women fire officer arrives and starts hauling out life saving equipment off the wagon. Can you imagine the thought of having to chuck one up for a female colonel?

Years have passed since we sent (like a canary in a pit) the lesser nations in first to test the water; hunted down the sexually diverse & prosecuted them being just different, or further back, burnt witches at the stake.

There will always be bigots in every industry, tyrants in all walks of life and dictators will pop up every century to try and make their mark. Interesting thing is, they will appear in male and female form.

The oppression of others is through lack of understanding and failure to acknowledge our own species.
We think we are running ahead of the world, constantly looking down on other animals. Have we forgotten that the human race is just another form of animal?
What makes us different is the rational brain the side of choice.
Forgetting that we have a choice really shows a lack of consideration and should be a warning to ourselves that it is time to grow up.

Other creatures in the animal kingdom bow down and revere the female species, though please note I’m not suggesting we start doing that (only in your own private parties- Whips and chains etc.)

I personally, have not seen any ‘anti-female’ attitude on the Circuit since I joined the past 2yrs or more. I have seen and heard a lot of anti-individual comments passed around i.e. late back from breaks, scruffy appearance, not portraying a processional image.
I do also hear “oh not a regiment man” , “he’s alright, but not a boot-neck” “She’s great , ex det !”
Which ties in with another thread about Civi/Mil backgrounds?

I read these quotes not so long ago:-
“Excellence is the best deterrent to racism or sexism” O. Winfrey
“Improve yourself, don’t find fault in others – It destroys good Chi (energy)!” Zen.

Just work together and we can all go home in one piece !

I am a female currently in the sandpit and I am not treated any different from any of the blokes, I find that sometimes blokes get hung up on the fact there is a female in their team and treat them differently ,i.e opening doors, allowing you to walk into a room before them and this really annoys me(sorry i know good old fashioned manners sum would say) but I am a CPO at the end of the day wether I am male or female as long as i can do my job thats what is important. I do agree though that many females are getting into CP who wouldnt even be useful on a door at Tesco's.
